ANGELES CITY—City Administrator Dennis Albert Pamintuan has called on the Lazatin camp “to return to work” instead of engaging in a useless media tit-for-tat and hair-splitting over inconsequential issues that only irritates the public.
“I repeat my call to Congressman Lazatin to go back to Congress, and resume his work as our representative. He may be serving his last year in government service, and he should cap it with honor instead of disgracing himself with pathetic publicity stunts,” Pamintuan said.
He also advised Lazatin to give Robledo Sanchez, a tabloid stringer, a good lawyer because the graft case he filed against Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan over the hiring of job order workers “is destined for the trashing” for lack of substance.
He added the Pamintuan camp will no longer answer any issue related to the job order workers since the case is already in court.
“We will just face each other in court,” he added.
Meanwhile, Partido Abe Kapampangan (PAK) deputy secretary general William Aguilar dismissed Sanchez’s dare to bring out all the city job order workers in a rally as childish.
“They have work to do, unlike during the time of Lazatin,” Aguilar said.
About a thousand job order workers rallied in protest last week over charges of Lazatin, through Sanchez, that their hiring has been irregular.
“It would be a pity if the 25 years that Lazatin has been in politics, which he describes as ‘outstanding service to the people’, will end up with a bad taste in the mouth and bitter defeat,” Pamintuan said.
Pamintuan added that Lazatin may no longer be his old self, as he allowed himself to be part of “charades” staged by his handlers, including the “staged filing of his certificate of candidacy” and, a few days ago, his pitiful pose for the benefit of the photographers that showed him waiting for the job order rallyists in his office in Barangay Telebastagan, City of San Fernando.
The rally was held instead at Plaza Miranda street in Angeles City.
Based on records of the Commission on Elections, Lazatin silently filed his CoC on October 4 but re-enacted it on October 5 for the benefit of media.
“We are no longer inclined to answer all the inanities coming from the Lazatin camp just for media mileage. We challenge them to come up with substantial issues, or simply shut up. We are now beginning to look like comedians whose antics are no longer amusing,” Pamintuan said.
“Irish Calaguas should realize that instead of propping up her boss, she is demeaning him as if he were some kind of zombie that she is pitting in ridiculous away-bata,” Pamintuan added.
Calaguas is Lazatin’s chief of staff and media handler.

APALIT, Pampanga — Governor Lilia G. Pineda led local officials, police and military officials in the blessing and inauguration of the Philippine National Police/Armed Forces of the Philippines Action Center in this municipality.
The governor was accompanied by Brigadier General Gregorio Catapang, AFP Commander of the 7th-Infantry Division based at Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija; Senior Superintendent R’win Pangkalinawan, Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPPO) provincial police director, and some local officials in the province.
The construction of the PNP/APF defense action center was reportedly built through the joint initiative of the provincial government under Governor Pineda and municipal government headed by Apalit Mayor Oscar Tetangco.
Pineda cited the important task of combined police and military forces manning the exit door of Pampanga to Bulacan and Metro Manila. Law enforcers stationed at the new built action center here can support local authorities to provide security and maintain peace and order in the province.
The joint forces of the PNP and AFP will man the center which costs about P1.6 million. The funds for its construction came from the provincial government.
General Catapang said that the area where the action center is standing is a very strategic place in the prevention of crime and in keeping peace of Pampanga, as it is the door of the province.
He said the lady governor has continued to help and supported government troops in the performance of their duty in serving the country.
Aside from the construction of the new building, Governor Pineda also donated one Daewoo pick-up vehicle and two motorcycles to reinforce the capability of the action center.
Meanwhile, Supt. Homer Penecilla, the town chief of police, said the action center will serve as “defense and offense” in fighting criminality. It is really a big help, he said.
Penecilla said that Apalit is in the boundary of Pampanga and Bulacan.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Nov. 22 (PNA) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regional office has recently distributed free land titles to residents of seven barangays in Olongapo City.
DENR-Central Luzon executive director Maximo Dichoso said the move is part of the government’s land distribution and poverty-alleviation program.
Thirty-eight residents from Brgys. East Bajac-Bajac, Gordon Heights, New Banicain, New Cabalan, New Kalalake, Old Cabalan and West Tapinac received residential free patents from the DENR, in coordination with the Register of Deeds and the Office of Olongapo City Mayor James Gordon.
Six others also received Miscellaneous Sales patents.
“This is just the first wave of land distribution program of the DENR after the completion of the cadastral survey project of Olongapo City under CAD 1226-D,” he said.
The DENR official said the cadastral survey projects involved surveying extensive tracts of previously unsurveyed or incompletely surveyed lands in towns, cities, and provinces to expedite land registration and promote land valuation and taxation efforts of local governments.
Under Republic Act 10023, or the New Free Patent Act, a Filipino citizen may apply for a free patent title over a maximum of 200 square meters of residential land in highly urbanized cities.
The applicant, Dichoso said, must have occupied that piece of land for at least 10 years.
“Without a land title, occupants are considered mere occupants and not owners of that piece of land,” he explained, adding that land titles, when used as collateral for loans, could serve as an economic resource to stimulate private investment on land development.
The DENR is partnering with local governments and the Register of Deeds in land titling efforts to fast track the processing and issuance of private land titles over alienable and disposable (A&D) lands, or lands that have not been previously issued a land title and therefore considered government property.
DENR-Olongapo, in close coordination with the local government, has since mobilized a systematic adjudication team to serve as a one-stop shop for the city’s land titling activities.
A total of 20 cadastral survey projects have already been completed in Central Luzon, covering a combined 313,108 hectares in the provinces of Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales.

ANGELES CITY – The Partido Abe Kapampangan expressed support to the call of City Administrator Dennis Albert Pamintuan to Congressman Carmelo Lazatin to report back to Congress.
“The campaign period is still months away, but it seems Lazatin has no longer been reporting for work, adding to his being among the topnotchers in Congress insofar as absences are concerned,” said Partido Abe Secretary General Danilo de Austria Consumido.
Consumido said since Lazatin filed his candidacy papers last October 4, congressional records indicate that he has been consistently absent during session days, even as Congress is tackling significant measures like RH Bill, the Freedom of Information Bill (FOI), among others.
Consumido cited a news report dated June 15, stating that Lazatin is one of the House members with many absences from July 25, 2011 to June 6, 2012.
“If he reports back to work, he may be able to do a lot to even prop up his candidacy for mayor of Angeles City. He can deliver a privilege speech on the job order workers of the city, or his allegations of bankruptcy of Angeles City, or the earth-shaking issue involving an unpaid gasoline station and perhaps trigger a congressional probe over his allegations,” Consumido said.
Pamintuan expressed concern that Lazatin may be stooping so low just to gain media mileage.
Pamintuan also called on IC Calaguas, chief of staff and media handler of Lazatin, not to put her boss in embarrassing situations that could put to naught the 25 years of government service of her boss.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPPO) were surprised with the pronouncement of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) tagging the province as elections hot spot.
Pampanga Police Director R’win Pagkalinawan said he did not recommend declaring Pampanga as an election hot spot considering the peace and order situation is in good shape and continuously improving.
Pagkalinawan said that from an average of 500 crimes per month in 2011, the same was reduced to a constant 200 crimes per month in 2012.
Most of these, according to him, were crimes against property and person.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The construction of the proposed senior citizens’ center amounting to some P3-million was approved by Governor Lilia Pineda.
Pineda met with the officials of senior citizens’ organization who pushed for more comprehensive services and programs individuals.
Pineda said she believed that with modern center for the group, the Provincial Government can immediately response to the needs of the elderly base on the list of priorities as determined by their leaders.
The center was planned to be constructed in a lot located between San Fernando City and Bacolor town along the stretch of Jose Abad Santos Avenue.
Joining the governor in the meeting were Linda Gaddi-David, president of the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (FSCAP)-Central Luzon, former Court of Appeals Justice Agustin Dizon, FSCAP honorary chair and consultant Frank Olingay.
Both Dizon and David were nominees of Comelec accredited Aagapay sa Matatanda, Inc. (AMA) partylist, who may represent the elderly in Congress if they could get the needed votes in the 2013 elections.
David said there is a need to encourage and inspire the elderly through the provision of activities and services, which reflect the diverse needs and interests of older persons which can be done in the center.
“The senior citizens who serve as the uniting factor in the family, at their age, they want to relax and enjoy the company of their peers or hold dancing and singing activities,” David said.
Dizon said the proposed center could serve as meeting place and an information unit that can link senior citizens to benefits and services.
The former justice stressed that the center can offer comprehensive fitness and wellness program and major social activities include classes, trips and parties.
“The center will also provide facilities for relaxation and avenues of social activities for their leisure time,” Dizon added.
He said they commended the governor for the proposed center that may keep the old age persons united in dealing with the challenges that may confront them. (Herbert P. Mapiles)

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–The rapidly changing landscape of the flow of information, the emergence of digital content, the people’s power and responsibilities in the time of social media – these are just some of the topics
discussed during the WebSm@rt learning session conducted by leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart).
School paper advisers and campus journalists from 16 schools in Pampanga gathered at the province’s System Plus College Foundation to participate in the WebSm@rt training. This training series that Smart is conducting in several schools across the country aims to educate and equip school journalists in this fast paced age of Internet-powered new media.
“We must keep up with the times when it comes to sharing and consuming
information,” said Ramon Isberto, head of Smart’s Public Affairs. “We initiated this series of training for schools because we think academic institutions should benefit most from the free exchange of information enabled by the Internet. We want the schools to learn to adapt and hone their skills, especially when it comes to handling and managing bits and pieces of information on the net.”
Through these trainings, Smart said it is also encouraging schools to supplement their campus journalism programs with online versions of their publications and dabble in digital and social content which is a quick, and cost-efficient way of disseminating information and engaging their readers.
The Websm@rt training includes a basic course of new media plus a workshop about writing and producing online content.
The Resource speaker from Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility,
Hector Bryant Macale, also discussed cyber ethics and touched on the
country’s cybercrime prevention law.
At the end of the training-workshop the schools managed to create their own websites using the Infinite.ly platform. Infinite.ly, a startup based in the Philippines, is a partner of Smart in the “webifying” of schools nationwide through online site-building and content creation via the Smart Schools Program.
The schools also created a blog site for their campus paper using Journ.ph—a multi-user blog site powered by Smart especially designed for school publications in the Philippines. Currently, more than 300 schools nationwide are using the platform to share their school/community stories in the web.
Aside from the Pampanga Websm@rt training, Smart also participated in the Davao City Division Schools Press Conference held at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Matina, Davao City.
More than 400 teachers and students from different schools in region participated in Smart’s sessions in new media handled by TV5 Davao’s news desk editor Jef Tupas, and lectures on Journ.ph – Smart’s flagship campus journalism program.

CLARK FREEPORT–The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has lined-up a battery of fun-filled events in preparation for the much-awaited Yuletide Season.
According to Noemi Garcia, CDC Tourism Promotions Office Manager, international flavor greeted the start of November with the recent visit of several candidates from the renowned Ms. Earth beauty pageant as well as delegates from Malaysia.
Garcia said the Ms. Earth candidates visited this Freeport for several tree planting activities in select areas here, particularly at the site being developed by the Global Gateways Logistics City (GGLC).
This was followed by the Gala Night of the recently-concluded 2012 “Tara na sa Malaysia” Promotional Tour and Roadshow.
Prior to the Gala Night, Tourism Malaysia and the rest of its delegation were at the Holy Angel University where the students and school administrators enjoyed the cultural dances and “Teh Tarik” demonstrations, as well as other fun games and activities that were prepared for them.
Last Sunday, some 400 runners and cyclists joined the “Putik Pare! Biathlon Race” held at the Sacobia Bridge here. During the event, participants plunged into a 50-meter long mud pit.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–The Center for Health Development 3 (CHD-3) –Food and Drugs Administration warns the public on the proliferation and adverse effects of counterfeit drugs intake as it observes the second National Consciousness Week against Counterfeit Drugs from November 19-23.
With this year’s observance theme “Para sa Kalusugang Pangkalahatan, Pekeng Gamot ating Labanan,” the FDA aims to increase the awareness of the public on counterfeit drugs as a health threat.
Intake of fake drugs, according to FDA officer Meliza Salongga, may worsen a patient’s condition, result to another illness, cause Adverse Drug Reactions and may lead to death in serious cases.
According to Salongga, these fake medicines are usually sold cheaper than legitimate drugs by peddlers and stores operating without an FDA license.
A legitimate drug’s package has clearly printed name, logo of the manufacturer, FDA product registration number, lot number form and expiration date.
Imprints on the packaging of counterfeit drugs are usually lighter, faded and easily erased.

News About ClarkANGELES CITY—City Administrator Dennis Albert Pamintuan has called on the Lazatin camp “to return to work” instead of engaging in a useless media tit-for-tat and hair-splitting over inconsequential issues that only irritates the public.
“I repeat my call to Congressman Lazatin to go back to Congress, and resume his work as our representative. He may be serving his last year in government service, and he should cap it with honor instead of disgracing himself with pathetic publicity stunts,” Pamintuan said.
He also advised Lazatin to give Robledo Sanchez, a tabloid stringer, a good lawyer because the graft case he filed against Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan over the hiring of job order workers “is destined for the trashing” for lack of substance.
He added the Pamintuan camp will no longer answer any issue related to the job order workers since the case is already in court.
“We will just face each other in court,” he added.
Meanwhile, Partido Abe Kapampangan (PAK) deputy secretary general William Aguilar dismissed Sanchez’s dare to bring out all the city job order workers in a rally as childish.
“They have work to do, unlike during the time of Lazatin,” Aguilar said.
About a thousand job order workers rallied in protest last week over charges of Lazatin, through Sanchez, that their hiring has been irregular.
“It would be a pity if the 25 years that Lazatin has been in politics, which he describes as ‘outstanding service to the people’, will end up with a bad taste in the mouth and bitter defeat,” Pamintuan said.
Pamintuan added that Lazatin may no longer be his old self, as he allowed himself to be part of “charades” staged by his handlers, including the “staged filing of his certificate of candidacy” and, a few days ago, his pitiful pose for the benefit of the photographers that showed him waiting for the job order rallyists in his office in Barangay Telebastagan, City of San Fernando.
The rally was held instead at Plaza Miranda street in Angeles City.
Based on records of the Commission on Elections, Lazatin silently filed his CoC on October 4 but re-enacted it on October 5 for the benefit of media.
“We are no longer inclined to answer all the inanities coming from the Lazatin camp just for media mileage. We challenge them to come up with substantial issues, or simply shut up. We are now beginning to look like comedians whose antics are no longer amusing,” Pamintuan said.
“Irish Calaguas should realize that instead of propping up her boss, she is demeaning him as if he were some kind of zombie that she is pitting in ridiculous away-bata,” Pamintuan added.
Calaguas is Lazatin’s chief of staff and media handler.

Pineda Inaugurates Pampanga Action Center
News About ClarkAPALIT, Pampanga — Governor Lilia G. Pineda led local officials, police and military officials in the blessing and inauguration of the Philippine National Police/Armed Forces of the Philippines Action Center in this municipality.
The governor was accompanied by Brigadier General Gregorio Catapang, AFP Commander of the 7th-Infantry Division based at Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija; Senior Superintendent R’win Pangkalinawan, Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPPO) provincial police director, and some local officials in the province.
The construction of the PNP/APF defense action center was reportedly built through the joint initiative of the provincial government under Governor Pineda and municipal government headed by Apalit Mayor Oscar Tetangco.
Pineda cited the important task of combined police and military forces manning the exit door of Pampanga to Bulacan and Metro Manila. Law enforcers stationed at the new built action center here can support local authorities to provide security and maintain peace and order in the province.
The joint forces of the PNP and AFP will man the center which costs about P1.6 million. The funds for its construction came from the provincial government.
General Catapang said that the area where the action center is standing is a very strategic place in the prevention of crime and in keeping peace of Pampanga, as it is the door of the province.
He said the lady governor has continued to help and supported government troops in the performance of their duty in serving the country.
Aside from the construction of the new building, Governor Pineda also donated one Daewoo pick-up vehicle and two motorcycles to reinforce the capability of the action center.
Meanwhile, Supt. Homer Penecilla, the town chief of police, said the action center will serve as “defense and offense” in fighting criminality. It is really a big help, he said.
Penecilla said that Apalit is in the boundary of Pampanga and Bulacan.

DENR distributes free land titles to Olongapo City
News About ClarkCITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Nov. 22 (PNA) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regional office has recently distributed free land titles to residents of seven barangays in Olongapo City.
DENR-Central Luzon executive director Maximo Dichoso said the move is part of the government’s land distribution and poverty-alleviation program.
Thirty-eight residents from Brgys. East Bajac-Bajac, Gordon Heights, New Banicain, New Cabalan, New Kalalake, Old Cabalan and West Tapinac received residential free patents from the DENR, in coordination with the Register of Deeds and the Office of Olongapo City Mayor James Gordon.
Six others also received Miscellaneous Sales patents.
“This is just the first wave of land distribution program of the DENR after the completion of the cadastral survey project of Olongapo City under CAD 1226-D,” he said.
The DENR official said the cadastral survey projects involved surveying extensive tracts of previously unsurveyed or incompletely surveyed lands in towns, cities, and provinces to expedite land registration and promote land valuation and taxation efforts of local governments.
Under Republic Act 10023, or the New Free Patent Act, a Filipino citizen may apply for a free patent title over a maximum of 200 square meters of residential land in highly urbanized cities.
The applicant, Dichoso said, must have occupied that piece of land for at least 10 years.
“Without a land title, occupants are considered mere occupants and not owners of that piece of land,” he explained, adding that land titles, when used as collateral for loans, could serve as an economic resource to stimulate private investment on land development.
The DENR is partnering with local governments and the Register of Deeds in land titling efforts to fast track the processing and issuance of private land titles over alienable and disposable (A&D) lands, or lands that have not been previously issued a land title and therefore considered government property.
DENR-Olongapo, in close coordination with the local government, has since mobilized a systematic adjudication team to serve as a one-stop shop for the city’s land titling activities.
A total of 20 cadastral survey projects have already been completed in Central Luzon, covering a combined 313,108 hectares in the provinces of Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales.

Group supports back-to-work call to Lazatin
News About ClarkANGELES CITY – The Partido Abe Kapampangan expressed support to the call of City Administrator Dennis Albert Pamintuan to Congressman Carmelo Lazatin to report back to Congress.
“The campaign period is still months away, but it seems Lazatin has no longer been reporting for work, adding to his being among the topnotchers in Congress insofar as absences are concerned,” said Partido Abe Secretary General Danilo de Austria Consumido.
Consumido said since Lazatin filed his candidacy papers last October 4, congressional records indicate that he has been consistently absent during session days, even as Congress is tackling significant measures like RH Bill, the Freedom of Information Bill (FOI), among others.
Consumido cited a news report dated June 15, stating that Lazatin is one of the House members with many absences from July 25, 2011 to June 6, 2012.
“If he reports back to work, he may be able to do a lot to even prop up his candidacy for mayor of Angeles City. He can deliver a privilege speech on the job order workers of the city, or his allegations of bankruptcy of Angeles City, or the earth-shaking issue involving an unpaid gasoline station and perhaps trigger a congressional probe over his allegations,” Consumido said.
Pamintuan expressed concern that Lazatin may be stooping so low just to gain media mileage.
Pamintuan also called on IC Calaguas, chief of staff and media handler of Lazatin, not to put her boss in embarrassing situations that could put to naught the 25 years of government service of her boss.
“It would be a pity if the 25 years that Lazatin has been in politics, which he describes as ‘outstanding service to the people,’ will end up with a bad taste in the mouth and bitter defeat,” Pamintuan said. (Reynaldo G. Navales)

Pampanga cops surprised by DILG hot spot tagging
News About ClarkCITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPPO) were surprised with the pronouncement of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) tagging the province as elections hot spot.
Pampanga Police Director R’win Pagkalinawan said he did not recommend declaring Pampanga as an election hot spot considering the peace and order situation is in good shape and continuously improving.
Pagkalinawan said that from an average of 500 crimes per month in 2011, the same was reduced to a constant 200 crimes per month in 2012.
Most of these, according to him, were crimes against property and person.
However, he clarified that as per his understanding, DILG Secretary Manuel Roxas II only presented a watch list of high risk areas and not really a declaration of elections hot spots.
Pagkalinawan claimed that only the town of Arayat should be considered if Roxas really looks into the previous records of crime incidents.
Pagkalinawan said that the implication of having a province included in the list elections hot spots is that local police will be placed under the instructions of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), which will send bad impression to investors who already decided to put investments in the province.
Among the provinces included in the elections hot spots were Pampanga Abra, Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Cagayan, Nueva Ecija, Batangas, Cavite, Masbate, Samar, Misamis Occidental, Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, and Basilan. (Herbert P. Mapiles)

Guv okays P3M center for elders
News About ClarkCITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The construction of the proposed senior citizens’ center amounting to some P3-million was approved by Governor Lilia Pineda.
Pineda met with the officials of senior citizens’ organization who pushed for more comprehensive services and programs individuals.
Pineda said she believed that with modern center for the group, the Provincial Government can immediately response to the needs of the elderly base on the list of priorities as determined by their leaders.
The center was planned to be constructed in a lot located between San Fernando City and Bacolor town along the stretch of Jose Abad Santos Avenue.
Joining the governor in the meeting were Linda Gaddi-David, president of the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (FSCAP)-Central Luzon, former Court of Appeals Justice Agustin Dizon, FSCAP honorary chair and consultant Frank Olingay.
Both Dizon and David were nominees of Comelec accredited Aagapay sa Matatanda, Inc. (AMA) partylist, who may represent the elderly in Congress if they could get the needed votes in the 2013 elections.
David said there is a need to encourage and inspire the elderly through the provision of activities and services, which reflect the diverse needs and interests of older persons which can be done in the center.
“The senior citizens who serve as the uniting factor in the family, at their age, they want to relax and enjoy the company of their peers or hold dancing and singing activities,” David said.
Dizon said the proposed center could serve as meeting place and an information unit that can link senior citizens to benefits and services.
The former justice stressed that the center can offer comprehensive fitness and wellness program and major social activities include classes, trips and parties.
“The center will also provide facilities for relaxation and avenues of social activities for their leisure time,” Dizon added.
He said they commended the governor for the proposed center that may keep the old age persons united in dealing with the challenges that may confront them. (Herbert P. Mapiles)

Bataan Freeport export firm renews training pact
News About ClarkCITY OF SAN FERNANDO–The rapidly changing landscape of the flow of information, the emergence of digital content, the people’s power and responsibilities in the time of social media – these are just some of the topics
discussed during the WebSm@rt learning session conducted by leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart).
School paper advisers and campus journalists from 16 schools in Pampanga gathered at the province’s System Plus College Foundation to participate in the WebSm@rt training. This training series that Smart is conducting in several schools across the country aims to educate and equip school journalists in this fast paced age of Internet-powered new media.
“We must keep up with the times when it comes to sharing and consuming
information,” said Ramon Isberto, head of Smart’s Public Affairs. “We initiated this series of training for schools because we think academic institutions should benefit most from the free exchange of information enabled by the Internet. We want the schools to learn to adapt and hone their skills, especially when it comes to handling and managing bits and pieces of information on the net.”
Through these trainings, Smart said it is also encouraging schools to supplement their campus journalism programs with online versions of their publications and dabble in digital and social content which is a quick, and cost-efficient way of disseminating information and engaging their readers.
The Websm@rt training includes a basic course of new media plus a workshop about writing and producing online content.
The Resource speaker from Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility,
Hector Bryant Macale, also discussed cyber ethics and touched on the
country’s cybercrime prevention law.
At the end of the training-workshop the schools managed to create their own websites using the Infinite.ly platform. Infinite.ly, a startup based in the Philippines, is a partner of Smart in the “webifying” of schools nationwide through online site-building and content creation via the Smart Schools Program.
The schools also created a blog site for their campus paper using Journ.ph—a multi-user blog site powered by Smart especially designed for school publications in the Philippines. Currently, more than 300 schools nationwide are using the platform to share their school/community stories in the web.
Aside from the Pampanga Websm@rt training, Smart also participated in the Davao City Division Schools Press Conference held at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Matina, Davao City.
More than 400 teachers and students from different schools in region participated in Smart’s sessions in new media handled by TV5 Davao’s news desk editor Jef Tupas, and lectures on Journ.ph – Smart’s flagship campus journalism program.

This year’s edition of SM Eco-bag is highlighted on the theme “Engage to Change,” which depicts input of the community in a nationwide program to prudent plastic use. The designs were based on the four elements of nature: air, earth, fire, and water. These were selected and distributed one each for Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, which will be used as the official designs of the 2012 SM Eco-bag. Clark to host fun-filled pre-Christmas events
News About ClarkCLARK FREEPORT–The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has lined-up a battery of fun-filled events in preparation for the much-awaited Yuletide Season.
According to Noemi Garcia, CDC Tourism Promotions Office Manager, international flavor greeted the start of November with the recent visit of several candidates from the renowned Ms. Earth beauty pageant as well as delegates from Malaysia.
Garcia said the Ms. Earth candidates visited this Freeport for several tree planting activities in select areas here, particularly at the site being developed by the Global Gateways Logistics City (GGLC).
This was followed by the Gala Night of the recently-concluded 2012 “Tara na sa Malaysia” Promotional Tour and Roadshow.
Prior to the Gala Night, Tourism Malaysia and the rest of its delegation were at the Holy Angel University where the students and school administrators enjoyed the cultural dances and “Teh Tarik” demonstrations, as well as other fun games and activities that were prepared for them.
Last Sunday, some 400 runners and cyclists joined the “Putik Pare! Biathlon Race” held at the Sacobia Bridge here. During the event, participants plunged into a 50-meter long mud pit.
On Nov. 24, join the fun run hosted by Herbis Bender Associates Design at the Clark Parade Grounds. This would be followed by the “Clark Miyamit Falls Trail Run” on Nov. 25. The trail is an 80-kilometer distance ultra-run from the Clark Parade Grounds to Miyamit Falls.
The great outdoors of the Clark Freeport will, again, take center stage on Nov. 23 to 25 for the annual Clark Horse Fest 2012 at the El Kabayo Stables. More than 40 thoroughbreds are expected to join the parade from El Kabayo to the CDC Parade grounds during the two-day event that would be participated by sports enthusiasts, celebrities, and known horse breeders as well as horse owners.
Another fun run hosted by the Institute of Electronic Engineers is set on Dec. 9. Also on the same day, the Centennial Road near the Mabalacat Gate will be the venue for the Tillbury Race – a horse race that is expected to draw hordes of tourists to the Freeport.
And finally, for its Christmas extravaganza, the CDC will again celebrate the annual “Clarksiyahan 2012” – a Clark-wide Christmas celebration that would be highlighted by a ceremonial Christmas lighting, giant lantern display, live band performances, bazaar, disco and ballroom dancing, and fireworks display.

News About ClarkCITY OF SAN FERNANDO–The Center for Health Development 3 (CHD-3) –Food and Drugs Administration warns the public on the proliferation and adverse effects of counterfeit drugs intake as it observes the second National Consciousness Week against Counterfeit Drugs from November 19-23.
With this year’s observance theme “Para sa Kalusugang Pangkalahatan, Pekeng Gamot ating Labanan,” the FDA aims to increase the awareness of the public on counterfeit drugs as a health threat.
Intake of fake drugs, according to FDA officer Meliza Salongga, may worsen a patient’s condition, result to another illness, cause Adverse Drug Reactions and may lead to death in serious cases.
According to Salongga, these fake medicines are usually sold cheaper than legitimate drugs by peddlers and stores operating without an FDA license.
A legitimate drug’s package has clearly printed name, logo of the manufacturer, FDA product registration number, lot number form and expiration date.
Imprints on the packaging of counterfeit drugs are usually lighter, faded and easily erased.
Due to low quality of manufacturing, fake tablets are soft and easily pulverized, capsules are moist, parts of suspension settle down and harden and floating specks are seen on syrup or injectables. ●–Au Catu
