CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga—A house helper died after he was sideswiped by a truck along MacArthur Highway in Bocaue, Bulacan over the weekend.
The victim was identified as Jonee Garcia, 44, a resident of Barangay Antipona, Bocaue, Bulacan.
The suspect, identified as Ryan Ducena, 25,of Barangay Kataasan, Dinalupihan, Bataan, was arrested.
Police said Garcia was riding his bicycle along the shoulder of Macarthur Highway in Barangay Wakas, Bocaue when he was hit by an Isuzu Cargo Aluminum truck at about 3:45 p.m.
Due to the impact, police said, the victim suffered head injuries.
Garcia was brought to the Doctor Yanga Hospital also located in Barangay Wakas but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. He was taken to the Flavel Funeral homes for autopsy.
Ducena is now detained at the Bocaue Municipal jail pending the filing of a case of Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide against him. •Froilan E. Magtoto

ANGELES CITY–The Partido Abe Kapampangan challenged Barangay Northwest Councilman William David and wife, Irene David, to issue affidavit swearing to their statements relative to the issue of Angeles City Government Job Orders (JOs) “if they really believe on their information.”
“Nakakatawa naman talaga si Kagawad William David at ang kanyang asawa. Puro lang sila salita pero wala naman silang pinapakitang dokumento nila na nagsasabing pinanumpaan nila ang kanilang mga alegasyon. Ang katotohanan ay walang tinatayuang ligal na batayan ang kanilang mga sinasabi. Maski ang kanilang mga dokumento ay puro photocopies o xerox lamang at alam natin na ito ay mahahalintulad lamang sa isang pirasong papel na pwedeng ipambalot ng tinapa,” said William Aguilar, ABE deputy secretary general.
“Malinaw naman po na ang kanilang ginagawa ay bahagi lamang ng isang sistematikong plano ni Congressman Carmelo ‘Tarzan’ Lazatin upang manira at magsagawa ng iba’t-ibang uri ng black propaganda kabilang na ang pagsisinungaling upang mapagtakpan ang tunay nilang anyo. Niloloko nila ang mga Angelenyo,” Aguilar added.
The ABE party also branded as “ridiculous” the challenge of Councilman David to Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan to present all 2,506 job order personnel at Plaza Miranda.
“Wala na pong matinong sinasabi ang kanilang kampo. Salita na lang ng salita na halatang hindi na pinag-isipang mabuti. Ang mga job order personnel ng city government ay mga taong may dignidad at naaasahan sa paglilingkod sa mamamayan ng Angeles City . Hindi sila mga bilanggong convicted ng krimen na ipapahilera na lamang sa isang lugar upang bilangin dahil lamang sa kagustuhan ni Kagawad David o ng kanyang boss na si Tarzan Lazatin,” Aguilar stated.
The ABE party advised David and 3 other councilmen to “contemplate on the issue at hand by finding out if the documents presented to them are true or merely forged papers.”
“They should examine the documents presented to them. Then they should be direct in their sworn statements. Likewise, they should be ready to face the consequences of their actions. Let us not forget that perjury or forswearing is not allowed, and is a criminal offense,” Aguilar said.
Perjury is defined as the wilful act of swearing a false oath or affirmation to tell the truth, whether spoken or in writing, concerning matters material to a judicial proceeding.

4. ‘2013 Angeles City budget scrutinized’ CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Central Luzon’s three provinces, namely, Bulacan, Bataan and Zambales, are free from toxic red tides according to Shellfish Bulletin latest advisory No. 28 dated December 7.
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Director Remedios Ongtangco said coastal waters of Bulacan and Bataan—towns of Mariveles, Limay, Orion, Pilar, Balanga, Orani, Abucay and Samal in Manila Bay; and, Masinloc Bay in Zambales are free from toxic red tides.
Shellfish from the mentioned areas can now be gathered, harvested and sold in markets for human consumption.
Meanwhile, shellfishes collected at Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur; Murcielagos Bay in Zamboanga del Norte and Misamis Occidental, and coastal waters of Bolinao and Anda in Pangasinan are still positive for paralytic shellfish poison that is beyond the regulatory limit.
Ongtangco noted that all types of shellfish and Acetes ap or alamang from the said areas are not safe for human consumption.
“Fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking,” he added. • Joelyn G. Baluyut

ANGELES CITY–A councilor here assured that the city government’s 2013 budget was scrutinized by correcting some irregula-rities.
Councilor Maricel Morales, also chairwoman of the city’s finance appropriation, said the P1.311 billion city budget for 2013 was thoroughly studied.
“So, it doesn’t appear that the council is a puppet of the mayor, the budget was scrutinized. We saw some irregularities and we corrected them,” Morales said.
Some of the irregularities seen during the three day budget hearing were funds for gas and other vehicle maintenance products even if the department does not have a government issued vehicle yet.
“When departments create their budget, they anticipate what they will be needing. We decided that we cannot program budgets for vehicle maintenance materials if we do not have the vehicle yet,” Morales said.
Aside from assumptions, Morales said other irregularities include typographical errors.
“There was an overestimated budget of P115 million but we have corrected that,” Morales said.
The P1.311 billion budget for 2013 was higher compared to the P1.2 billion budget for 2012.
Morales assured that the city is not bankrupted and has enough budget to deliver basic services to Angeleños. ●Charlene Cayabyab

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Top officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here and the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) will jointly allocate some P3.2 million to reforest an initial 130 hectares of the Mariveles watershed to boost the water potential of the Freeport Area of Bataan dam.
Aside from the DENR and AFAB, officials of the Export Processing Zone Chamber of Exporters and Manufacturing, Inc. (EPZCEM) also committed to support the 25-year reforestation program to ensure the FAB dam could supply the water requirement of locators and manufacturers inside the 1,700-hectare Freeport.
DENR regional director Maximo Dichoso and AFAB Chairman and Administrator Deogracias Custodio executed Monday a 25-year Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the reforestation program that would also include provisions for survey and delineation, watershed characterization, vulnerability assessment, preparation of comprehensive development management plan, forest protection and trainings, and cost-sharing agreements on nursery establishment, seedling production, site preparation, and survey mapping of the areas to be reforested.
“This is a joint initiative of the AFAB, DENR and EPZCEM to help save and protect our environment while safeguarding the ability of the FAB dam to supply water to the entire Freeport for years to come,” said Custodio.
The FAB dam has a rated capacity of 10.9 million cubic meters of water.
Top company executives and staff from the participating FAB companies led by EPZCEM President Pompil Corsame also planted about 600 narra trees after the MoA signing as part of the initial activities of the reforestation program, reported Samuel Danganan, newly-installed DENR Bataan Provincial Officer.
The Freeport Area of Bataan boasts of a well protected watershed, lovely coastline and pristine beaches, mountain ranges and flat lands suitable for world-class ecotourism programs.

4. ‘2013 Angeles City budget scrutinized’ CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Central Luzon’s three provinces, namely, Bulacan, Bataan and Zambales, are free from toxic red tides according to Shellfish Bulletin latest advisory No. 28 dated December 7.
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Director Remedios Ongtangco said coastal waters of Bulacan and Bataan—towns of Mariveles, Limay, Orion, Pilar, Balanga, Orani, Abucay and Samal in Manila Bay; and, Masinloc Bay in Zambales are free from toxic red tides.
Shellfish from the mentioned areas can now be gathered, harvested and sold in markets for human consumption.
Meanwhile, shellfishes collected at Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur; Murcielagos Bay in Zamboanga del Norte and Misamis Occidental, and coastal waters of Bolinao and Anda in Pangasinan are still positive for paralytic shellfish poison that is beyond the regulatory limit.
Ongtangco noted that all types of shellfish and Acetes ap or alamang from the said areas are not safe for human consumption.
“Fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking,” he added. • Joelyn G. Baluyut

ANGELES CITY–A councilor here assured that the city government’s 2013 budget was scrutinized by correcting some irregula-rities.
Councilor Maricel Morales, also chairwoman of the city’s finance appropriation, said the P1.311 billion city budget for 2013 was thoroughly studied.
“So, it doesn’t appear that the council is a puppet of the mayor, the budget was scrutinized. We saw some irregularities and we corrected them,” Morales said.
Some of the irregularities seen during the three day budget hearing were funds for gas and other vehicle maintenance products even if the department does not have a government issued vehicle yet.
“When departments create their budget, they anticipate what they will be needing. We decided that we cannot program budgets for vehicle maintenance materials if we do not have the vehicle yet,” Morales said.
Aside from assumptions, Morales said other irregularities include typographical errors.
“There was an overestimated budget of P115 million but we have corrected that,” Morales said.
The P1.311 billion budget for 2013 was higher compared to the P1.2 billion budget for 2012.
Morales assured that the city is not bankrupted and has enough budget to deliver basic services to Angeleños. ●Charlene Cayabyab

Allies of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo deplored the Sandiganbayan’s rejection of her request for a holiday furlough, saying her circumstances made her request a reasonable one.
Minority Leader Danilo Suarez has insisted that Arroyo, who is ill, is not a flight or security risk at all. She is also a former President of the country and an incumbent lawmaker who, while facing plunder and graft charges, has not been convicted of any crime, according to Suarez.
“She has not been proven to have done wrong. She is still an accused. It’s not like she’s the head of the military and poses a security risk,” Suarez said in a press briefing.
He also said Arroyo should fulfill her duty to visit her district in Pampanga, which she would like to visit during her furlough.
Arroyo’s allies in the House, some 23 lawmakers, visited Arroyo for a simple get-together on Tuesday, Suarez also disclosed.
He said Arroyo looked thin and frail, and appeared to be still bothered by her neck. While she was not wearing her neck brace during the gathering, she was continually touching her neck, he added.
He also said the former President asked the lawmakers about events in their districts, and wondered about the final House vote on the reproductive health bill. The final vote changed with a drastic reduction of negative votes compared to the second-reading vote.
Arroyo also gave out letters to her allies to thank them for continuing to stand by her all this time, said Suarez.
“She said if there’s anything that could make her somewhat lose her pain for being prosecuted, there are still some few friends who stood with her,” he said.
This is the second Christmas that Arroyo will spend in detention at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
In 2011, Arroyo spent the holidays at the hospital because of her non-bailable electoral sabotage charge.
She was granted bail for this case and released in July. But in October, she was again ordered arrested for her plunder case stemming from the alleged misuse of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office funds.
She has been allowed to stay at the VMMC because of her ill health.
She has undergone surgery on her spine for cervical spondylosis, a deterioration of the bones of the neck that causes a misalignment in the spine. An implant was placed on part of her neck to realign her spine.
But she continues to suffer neck and back pains, and has had difficulty swallowing food, according to doctors.

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga, Dec 19 (PIA) — National Nutrition Council (NNC) Governing Board in Central Luzon approved two resolutions that enhance the annual conduct of Operation Timbang (OPT) to pre-schoolers.
These are “Adopting Guidelines on the Fabrication, Verification and Maintenance of Wooden Height Boards” and “Adopting the revised implementing guidelines on OPT Plus.”
“OPT Plus now measures the height of children two years old and above and length for children less than two years old. This is in line with our adoption of the Child Growth Standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) which recommends the use of wooden height board. Using weight and length or height in combination can help best describe a child’s nutritional status,” NNC Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Victoria Mañez said.
“Adoption of the New WHO Child Growth Standards for Use for Children 0-5 years old in the Philippines,” was agreed by the seven provinces and 13 cities in Central Luzon for assessing children at the barangay, municipal and provincial levels.
“At present, two methods of growth assessment in communities in the country are being implemented which are Growth Monitoring and Promotion – the individual child regular growth monitoring for counselling and intervention and the conduct of mass weighing referred to as OPT,” Mañez added. Househelp dies in Bocaue road accident
Press ReleasesCAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga—A house helper died after he was sideswiped by a truck along MacArthur Highway in Bocaue, Bulacan over the weekend.
The victim was identified as Jonee Garcia, 44, a resident of Barangay Antipona, Bocaue, Bulacan.
The suspect, identified as Ryan Ducena, 25,of Barangay Kataasan, Dinalupihan, Bataan, was arrested.
Police said Garcia was riding his bicycle along the shoulder of Macarthur Highway in Barangay Wakas, Bocaue when he was hit by an Isuzu Cargo Aluminum truck at about 3:45 p.m.
Due to the impact, police said, the victim suffered head injuries.
Garcia was brought to the Doctor Yanga Hospital also located in Barangay Wakas but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. He was taken to the Flavel Funeral homes for autopsy.
Ducena is now detained at the Bocaue Municipal jail pending the filing of a case of Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide against him. •Froilan E. Magtoto

More About Wine & DineANGELES CITY–The Partido Abe Kapampangan challenged Barangay Northwest Councilman William David and wife, Irene David, to issue affidavit swearing to their statements relative to the issue of Angeles City Government Job Orders (JOs) “if they really believe on their information.”
“Nakakatawa naman talaga si Kagawad William David at ang kanyang asawa. Puro lang sila salita pero wala naman silang pinapakitang dokumento nila na nagsasabing pinanumpaan nila ang kanilang mga alegasyon. Ang katotohanan ay walang tinatayuang ligal na batayan ang kanilang mga sinasabi. Maski ang kanilang mga dokumento ay puro photocopies o xerox lamang at alam natin na ito ay mahahalintulad lamang sa isang pirasong papel na pwedeng ipambalot ng tinapa,” said William Aguilar, ABE deputy secretary general.
“Malinaw naman po na ang kanilang ginagawa ay bahagi lamang ng isang sistematikong plano ni Congressman Carmelo ‘Tarzan’ Lazatin upang manira at magsagawa ng iba’t-ibang uri ng black propaganda kabilang na ang pagsisinungaling upang mapagtakpan ang tunay nilang anyo. Niloloko nila ang mga Angelenyo,” Aguilar added.
The ABE party also branded as “ridiculous” the challenge of Councilman David to Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan to present all 2,506 job order personnel at Plaza Miranda.
“Wala na pong matinong sinasabi ang kanilang kampo. Salita na lang ng salita na halatang hindi na pinag-isipang mabuti. Ang mga job order personnel ng city government ay mga taong may dignidad at naaasahan sa paglilingkod sa mamamayan ng Angeles City . Hindi sila mga bilanggong convicted ng krimen na ipapahilera na lamang sa isang lugar upang bilangin dahil lamang sa kagustuhan ni Kagawad David o ng kanyang boss na si Tarzan Lazatin,” Aguilar stated.
The ABE party advised David and 3 other councilmen to “contemplate on the issue at hand by finding out if the documents presented to them are true or merely forged papers.”
“They should examine the documents presented to them. Then they should be direct in their sworn statements. Likewise, they should be ready to face the consequences of their actions. Let us not forget that perjury or forswearing is not allowed, and is a criminal offense,” Aguilar said.
Perjury is defined as the wilful act of swearing a false oath or affirmation to tell the truth, whether spoken or in writing, concerning matters material to a judicial proceeding.

News About Clark4. ‘2013 Angeles City budget scrutinized’ CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Central Luzon’s three provinces, namely, Bulacan, Bataan and Zambales, are free from toxic red tides according to Shellfish Bulletin latest advisory No. 28 dated December 7.
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Director Remedios Ongtangco said coastal waters of Bulacan and Bataan—towns of Mariveles, Limay, Orion, Pilar, Balanga, Orani, Abucay and Samal in Manila Bay; and, Masinloc Bay in Zambales are free from toxic red tides.
Shellfish from the mentioned areas can now be gathered, harvested and sold in markets for human consumption.
Meanwhile, shellfishes collected at Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur; Murcielagos Bay in Zamboanga del Norte and Misamis Occidental, and coastal waters of Bolinao and Anda in Pangasinan are still positive for paralytic shellfish poison that is beyond the regulatory limit.
Ongtangco noted that all types of shellfish and Acetes ap or alamang from the said areas are not safe for human consumption.
“Fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking,” he added. • Joelyn G. Baluyut

ANGELES CITY–A councilor here assured that the city government’s 2013 budget was scrutinized by correcting some irregula-rities.
Councilor Maricel Morales, also chairwoman of the city’s finance appropriation, said the P1.311 billion city budget for 2013 was thoroughly studied.
“So, it doesn’t appear that the council is a puppet of the mayor, the budget was scrutinized. We saw some irregularities and we corrected them,” Morales said.
Some of the irregularities seen during the three day budget hearing were funds for gas and other vehicle maintenance products even if the department does not have a government issued vehicle yet.
“When departments create their budget, they anticipate what they will be needing. We decided that we cannot program budgets for vehicle maintenance materials if we do not have the vehicle yet,” Morales said.
Aside from assumptions, Morales said other irregularities include typographical errors.
“There was an overestimated budget of P115 million but we have corrected that,” Morales said.
The P1.311 billion budget for 2013 was higher compared to the P1.2 billion budget for 2012.
Morales assured that the city is not bankrupted and has enough budget to deliver basic services to Angeleños. ●Charlene Cayabyab

DENR-AFAB earmarks P3.2-M to reforest Mariveles watershed
News About ClarkCITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Top officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here and the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) will jointly allocate some P3.2 million to reforest an initial 130 hectares of the Mariveles watershed to boost the water potential of the Freeport Area of Bataan dam.
Aside from the DENR and AFAB, officials of the Export Processing Zone Chamber of Exporters and Manufacturing, Inc. (EPZCEM) also committed to support the 25-year reforestation program to ensure the FAB dam could supply the water requirement of locators and manufacturers inside the 1,700-hectare Freeport.
DENR regional director Maximo Dichoso and AFAB Chairman and Administrator Deogracias Custodio executed Monday a 25-year Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the reforestation program that would also include provisions for survey and delineation, watershed characterization, vulnerability assessment, preparation of comprehensive development management plan, forest protection and trainings, and cost-sharing agreements on nursery establishment, seedling production, site preparation, and survey mapping of the areas to be reforested.
“This is a joint initiative of the AFAB, DENR and EPZCEM to help save and protect our environment while safeguarding the ability of the FAB dam to supply water to the entire Freeport for years to come,” said Custodio.
The FAB dam has a rated capacity of 10.9 million cubic meters of water.
Top company executives and staff from the participating FAB companies led by EPZCEM President Pompil Corsame also planted about 600 narra trees after the MoA signing as part of the initial activities of the reforestation program, reported Samuel Danganan, newly-installed DENR Bataan Provincial Officer.

News About Clark4. ‘2013 Angeles City budget scrutinized’ CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Central Luzon’s three provinces, namely, Bulacan, Bataan and Zambales, are free from toxic red tides according to Shellfish Bulletin latest advisory No. 28 dated December 7.
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Director Remedios Ongtangco said coastal waters of Bulacan and Bataan—towns of Mariveles, Limay, Orion, Pilar, Balanga, Orani, Abucay and Samal in Manila Bay; and, Masinloc Bay in Zambales are free from toxic red tides.
Shellfish from the mentioned areas can now be gathered, harvested and sold in markets for human consumption.
Meanwhile, shellfishes collected at Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur; Murcielagos Bay in Zamboanga del Norte and Misamis Occidental, and coastal waters of Bolinao and Anda in Pangasinan are still positive for paralytic shellfish poison that is beyond the regulatory limit.
Ongtangco noted that all types of shellfish and Acetes ap or alamang from the said areas are not safe for human consumption.
“Fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking,” he added. • Joelyn G. Baluyut

ANGELES CITY–A councilor here assured that the city government’s 2013 budget was scrutinized by correcting some irregula-rities.
Councilor Maricel Morales, also chairwoman of the city’s finance appropriation, said the P1.311 billion city budget for 2013 was thoroughly studied.
“So, it doesn’t appear that the council is a puppet of the mayor, the budget was scrutinized. We saw some irregularities and we corrected them,” Morales said.
Some of the irregularities seen during the three day budget hearing were funds for gas and other vehicle maintenance products even if the department does not have a government issued vehicle yet.
“When departments create their budget, they anticipate what they will be needing. We decided that we cannot program budgets for vehicle maintenance materials if we do not have the vehicle yet,” Morales said.
Aside from assumptions, Morales said other irregularities include typographical errors.
“There was an overestimated budget of P115 million but we have corrected that,” Morales said.
The P1.311 billion budget for 2013 was higher compared to the P1.2 billion budget for 2012.
Morales assured that the city is not bankrupted and has enough budget to deliver basic services to Angeleños. ●Charlene Cayabyab

DENR-AFAB earmarks P3.2-M to reforest Mariveles watershed
More About Wine & DineCITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Top officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here and the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) will jointly allocate some P3.2 million to reforest an initial 130 hectares of the Mariveles watershed to boost the water potential of the Freeport Area of Bataan dam.
Aside from the DENR and AFAB, officials of the Export Processing Zone Chamber of Exporters and Manufacturing, Inc. (EPZCEM) also committed to support the 25-year reforestation program to ensure the FAB dam could supply the water requirement of locators and manufacturers inside the 1,700-hectare Freeport.
DENR regional director Maximo Dichoso and AFAB Chairman and Administrator Deogracias Custodio executed Monday a 25-year Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the reforestation program that would also include provisions for survey and delineation, watershed characterization, vulnerability assessment, preparation of comprehensive development management plan, forest protection and trainings, and cost-sharing agreements on nursery establishment, seedling production, site preparation, and survey mapping of the areas to be reforested.
“This is a joint initiative of the AFAB, DENR and EPZCEM to help save and protect our environment while safeguarding the ability of the FAB dam to supply water to the entire Freeport for years to come,” said Custodio.
The FAB dam has a rated capacity of 10.9 million cubic meters of water.
Top company executives and staff from the participating FAB companies led by EPZCEM President Pompil Corsame also planted about 600 narra trees after the MoA signing as part of the initial activities of the reforestation program, reported Samuel Danganan, newly-installed DENR Bataan Provincial Officer.
The Freeport Area of Bataan boasts of a well protected watershed, lovely coastline and pristine beaches, mountain ranges and flat lands suitable for world-class ecotourism programs.

Allies deplore court’s refusal to give Arroyo Christmas pass
Press ReleasesAllies of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo deplored the Sandiganbayan’s rejection of her request for a holiday furlough, saying her circumstances made her request a reasonable one.
Minority Leader Danilo Suarez has insisted that Arroyo, who is ill, is not a flight or security risk at all. She is also a former President of the country and an incumbent lawmaker who, while facing plunder and graft charges, has not been convicted of any crime, according to Suarez.
“She has not been proven to have done wrong. She is still an accused. It’s not like she’s the head of the military and poses a security risk,” Suarez said in a press briefing.
He also said Arroyo should fulfill her duty to visit her district in Pampanga, which she would like to visit during her furlough.
Arroyo’s allies in the House, some 23 lawmakers, visited Arroyo for a simple get-together on Tuesday, Suarez also disclosed.
He said Arroyo looked thin and frail, and appeared to be still bothered by her neck. While she was not wearing her neck brace during the gathering, she was continually touching her neck, he added.
He also said the former President asked the lawmakers about events in their districts, and wondered about the final House vote on the reproductive health bill. The final vote changed with a drastic reduction of negative votes compared to the second-reading vote.
Arroyo also gave out letters to her allies to thank them for continuing to stand by her all this time, said Suarez.
“She said if there’s anything that could make her somewhat lose her pain for being prosecuted, there are still some few friends who stood with her,” he said.
This is the second Christmas that Arroyo will spend in detention at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
In 2011, Arroyo spent the holidays at the hospital because of her non-bailable electoral sabotage charge.
She was granted bail for this case and released in July. But in October, she was again ordered arrested for her plunder case stemming from the alleged misuse of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office funds.
She has been allowed to stay at the VMMC because of her ill health.
She has undergone surgery on her spine for cervical spondylosis, a deterioration of the bones of the neck that causes a misalignment in the spine. An implant was placed on part of her neck to realign her spine.
But she continues to suffer neck and back pains, and has had difficulty swallowing food, according to doctors.

City commends superbike racer

Resuello recently won in October the 2012 National Superbikes Crown of the Bridgestone Philippines Superbikes Championships at Clark International Speedway, Clarkfield, Pampanga.
“His achievement at a young age is worthy of emulation particularly to the youth having reached his present status because of discipline, dedication to his craft, hard work and family support,” the resolution said.
A registered nurse from Upper Quezon Hill Resuello has developed a passion for racing since 2005, and is a member of a competitive racing team.
Resuello won in March 3, 2012, where he topped the 130 cc underbone open class MTRT Club during the 9th Golden Wheel Award given at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
On November 27, 2011, Resuello also garnered the Fastest Privateer Award 130 Open class IRGP 5, Carmona Race Circuit in Cavite.
Resuello was also champion in a 12-hour endurance race, in Batangas; over-all 1st runner-up novice class superbike championship series, Batangas racing circuit-Clark International speedway in 2009; and, 1st runner-up superbike novice class Batangas racing circuit, in Rosario, Batangas in April 2010.

NNC Governing Board in Central Luzon passes resolutions on enhanced ‘Operation Timbang’
About Angeles City, Clark, Subic and PampangaSAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga, Dec 19 (PIA) — National Nutrition Council (NNC) Governing Board in Central Luzon approved two resolutions that enhance the annual conduct of Operation Timbang (OPT) to pre-schoolers.
These are “Adopting Guidelines on the Fabrication, Verification and Maintenance of Wooden Height Boards” and “Adopting the revised implementing guidelines on OPT Plus.”
“OPT Plus now measures the height of children two years old and above and length for children less than two years old. This is in line with our adoption of the Child Growth Standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) which recommends the use of wooden height board. Using weight and length or height in combination can help best describe a child’s nutritional status,” NNC Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Victoria Mañez said.
“Adoption of the New WHO Child Growth Standards for Use for Children 0-5 years old in the Philippines,” was agreed by the seven provinces and 13 cities in Central Luzon for assessing children at the barangay, municipal and provincial levels.
“At present, two methods of growth assessment in communities in the country are being implemented which are Growth Monitoring and Promotion – the individual child regular growth monitoring for counselling and intervention and the conduct of mass weighing referred to as OPT,” Mañez added.
