ANGELES CITY — Local government officials called on the public and fellow officials to support the PhilHealth programs, particularly the upcoming “PhilHealth Run 2013: Nationwide Run for Mother and Child Protection” in February 17.
Governor Lilia Pineda said the success of PhilHealth’s programs greatly depends on the support of government officials, public hospitals, doctors and the private sector.
“The health services that Philhealth offers can be maximized with the support of government and the private sector. Let us support Philhealth and its programs for 2013,” Pineda said.
David called on running enthusiasts to join the PhilHealth Run 2013, saying the event shall be an avenue to show corporate social responsibility of the beneficiaries involved in the protection of Mother and Child.
He added that the event will benefit Porac town and other beneficiaries like KaKaK Foundation, Programme Margarita, and Bulacan Medical Center.
He said he will personally participate in the event and invite other participants in Porac town.
“We are very thankful for the support of PhilHealth and we hope to invite participants in the coming event,” David added.
Cabigting, who read Mayor Edgardo Pamituan’s welcome remarks during the event, said the program will enable the success of PhilHealth programs.
She said the run is targeting some 12,000 professional and amateur runners in two sites, Clark Freeport and Malolos City in Bulacan.
“Let us support this worthy cause of Philhealth and become sponsors of bring more health care services to non-government organizations and institutions,” Cabigting said.
Cabigting said that Angeles City is very thankful to the agency for facilitating the distribution of PhilHealth cards for indigents in the city years ago.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Some 60 youth leaders from Bacolor, Mexico, Sta. Ana, Arayat and this city recently attended the Magsilbi Tamu Youth (MTY) Leadership Training at the Ninoy Aquino Amphitheatre of Heroes Hall here.
The leadership training of the youth leaders from the third district towns, which ran from December 5 to 6, included workshops and seminars in which the MTY Pampanga youth leaders came up with relevant outputs and plans on various issues facing their respective communities.
Among the speakers were youth leaders Eugene Orejas, executive director of a non-government organization (NGO) and a political analyst, who spoke “patronage politics,” while MTY officers Jay-R Hipolito and Kelvin Vistan conducted an orientation and open forum on leadership and good governance.
MTY Pampanga is a cluster of young Kapampangans who work on promoting and strengthening the role of the youth in good governance, particularly in community service, education, environment, health and social services.
The group plans to cascade the MTY training program in different municipalities in the province to heighten awareness and involvement of the youth in nation building.

THE second year of the “Blue Run,” which aims to raise funds for various activities of the Don Bosco Alumni Association (DBAA) in Pampanga, is all set on January 26, 2013 at the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) parade grounds, according to an event organizer.
The “Blue Run Year 2: I struggle, I win,” which is a family-oriented fund raising activity, was organized by Don Bosco Pampanga Batch 1988 in cooperation with the DBAA–Pampanga Chapter, according to Event chairman and technical director Melvin Fausto.
Fausto said the activity coincides with the alumni homecoming and is also in preparation for the Don Bosco Pampanga Foundation Day celebrations from January 30 to February 1, 2013.
Fausto said the last year’s “Blue Run’s” proceeds benefitted indigent families living in nearby Mabalacat City.
“This event is an opportune time for all Don Bosco Pampanga students and alumni to get together for a cause-oriented, yet fun-filled activity,” Fausto said.
He said registration starts at 6 a.m. while the start gun will fire-off at 7 a.m. for the 2.5-kilometers (2.5K), 5K, and 10K categories.

ANGELES CITY — The Angeles City Renal Care Unit recently received from Councilor Jericho Aguas the 45 units of dialyzers and safety AV Fistula needle set needed by patients undergoing dialysis.
The dialyzers were solicited by the Filipinos in New Jersey whom the councilor’s wife Isabel Granada-Aguas met during her trip late last year.
“We started year 2013 by visiting the renal care unit and see how we can help the patients who are undergoing dialysis for kidney problem,” Aguas said.
Over 100 regular patients are treated at the renal care unit, according to Aguas.
Dr. Ramon Jose Suarez, Angeles City Renal Care Unit head, thanked the Aguas couple saying “malaki po ang maitutulong nito sa ating renal care unit, dahil maganda po ang klase ng dialyzer na dala po ninyo sa amin.”
Aguas also cited other projects he shares with other members of the Professional Artists Management Incorporated (Pami) bloc — Councilors Maricel Morales, Edu Pamintuan, and Alex Indiongco – particularly on health.
He said they were able to implement programs to prevent the spread of dengue fever. Free vitamins and medicines were also distributed to children suffering from different ailments.
“We were also able to distribute free medicines to adults with diabetes hypertension, and other illnesses,” Aguas said.
Free cataract operation was also conducted in Barangay Malabanias and some 20 beneficiaries benefitted in partnership with private doctors in the city, according to Aguas.
Aguas is also set to distribute negocarts to selected beneficiaries in barangays Sapa Libutad, Mining, Agapito Del Rosario, and Balibago.
Some 40 negocarts were already distributed to selected vendors, he said.
At present, Aguas said his group has a program on youth development on sports like badminton and basketball tournament. (Reynaldo G. Navales)

MABALACAT CITY — Four men are facing robbery charges in connection with the break-in at an outlet of LBC money transfer here last January 1, where some P750,000 cash was stolen.
The suspects, who are still at large, are identified as Requino Bulanit Dacmeg Jr. of Isabela; Arvil Palale Samonte of Baguio City; Bryan Ay-Em Ban-Ang of Isabela; and Ken Cawasan Gupak Jr.
City Police Director Ferdinand Perez said two witnesses identified the four suspects.
Perez said the suspects allegedly managed to enter the establishment by passing through a drainage system and drilling a hole.
They destroyed the vault and carted away the cash and a cellular phone owned by the company, the police said.
Inspector Jesus Dungca, Dau police chief, said a huge amount of money was left by the suspects and later recovered by LBC employees inside the establishment.
But the LBC staff did not allow police officers to count the recovered money, Dungca added.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Kapampangan Development Foundation (KDF) has recognized the efforts of Sun.Star Pampanga in helping with the programs of the group for indigents in the province needing social service programs and medical attention.
This came as KDF recognized social partners during its 26th year anniversary at the Heroes Hall here. KDF Trustee Sylvia Ordonez said that Sun.Star Pampanga was instrumental in informing the public on the programs and services of the organization.
“Sun.Star was with us when we revived KDF a few years back and even today it has always been helpful with giving us information on the needs of the province at the same time informing the public of KDF initiatives,” Ordonez said.
Ordonez said that KDF’s Maternal Health program was even inspired by reports published in the paper. She said that Sun.Star will be an important partner of the organization that whose board of trustees is currently chaired by businessman Manny V. Pangilinan.
KDF founded in 1987 by Rizalino Navarro, the late Br. Andrew Gonzalez FSC, Cesar Villanueva, and Jose Araullo and Ricafort.
The group has also established at least 10 rural-based “Well Family Midwife Centers” in partnership with Well-Family Midwife Clinic Partnerships Foundation Inc., Norphil Foundation, Physicians for Peace, and Soroptimist Clubs of Pampanga.
Since the rebirth of KDF three years ago, it has achieved unparalleled social service to Kapampangans.
The KDF has been instrumental in the conduct of reconstructive facial surgery among indigent children with facial deformities, the conduct of free maternal and child service missions and the promotion of local livelihood projects for communities.
Other service partners like Quota, Rotary Clubs, Soroptimist, Arrelano University, Social Action Center of Pampanga where also honored during the event. All the service partners were given certificates of recognition by KDF.

ANGELES CITY — Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan recently assured that more indigent residents here will be covered under the PhilHealth indigent program to help the agency meet its universal health coverage program for 2013.
Pamintuan assured PhilHealth officials here through a message read through Vice Mayor Vicky Vega Cabigting that 20,000 PhilHealth coverage cards are set to be distributed starting this month.
The mayor said the city is set at meeting the outpatient-primary care for indigents in line with the Millennium Development Goals.
Cabigting said that one of the reasons for Pamintuan’s winning of 2012 World Mayor Prize is the good health programs for Angeles City from the Dialysis Center to the reforms initiated at the Ospital Ning Angeles.
Pamintuan joined the ranks of the best mayors around the globe as he was ranked eighth among the top 10 awardees for the 2012 World Mayor Prize.
Pamituan also thanked PhilHealth for helping in the health programs of the city. Pamintuan in an earlier statement said that more than 20,000 indigent residents of Angeles City will soon receive their PhilHealth cards which are good up to December 31, 2013.
“With this, the beneficiaries will be able to avail of discounts when availing of medical services in PhilHealth accredited hospitals and clinics including the Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA) and the various Rural Health Units (RHUs) of the city government. This serves as the new year’s gift of Mayor Ed Pamintuan to all indigent Angeleños,” Pamintuan said.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Archdiocesan Commission on the Biblical Apostolate (ACBA) of the Archdiocese of San Fernando, together with thousands of the faithful, will put the Holy Bible in the center stage during the celebration of National Bible Week on January 21 to 27, 2013.
ACBA head Fr. Jesus Layug told Sun.Star Pampanga this year’s celebration—themed “Proclaim the Word, Profess the Faith” – features an array of activities that will put the Holy Book in focus.
“Our celebration will kick-off on January 21 with a Eucharistic celebration to be presided by Auxiliary Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, 8:30 a.m. at the Metropolitan Cathedral. After that, we will have the grand Bible Parade from the Cathedral of the Mother of Good Counsel Seminary in Barangay Del Pilar where the Bible Exhibit will open at the Audio-Visual Room of the seminary. At 2 p.m. on the same day, we would have the Inter-School Bible Quiz at the seminary auditorium,” said Fr. Layug.
He added that the next day, January 22, Rev. Fr. Marlon Lacal, PhD, will talk about “Spirituality and God’s Word” at the Msgr. Ricardo Serrano Auditorium of the University of the Assumption at 2:30 p.m. to be followed by the “HUB” or Handwritten Unity Bible at 3:30 p.m.
The “Bibliodrama Workshop” will take place on January 23 at the ASF Building along Gen. Hizon Avenue from 8 a.m. to 12:00 noon and the day will culminate with a Bible Play at the Mother of Good Counsel Seminary Auditorium at 6:00 p.m.
“We wish to invite the lay faithful, the religious and all Bible lovers to be part of this grand celebration of the Word of God. Please do join us in spreading the Word and professing the faith,” said Fr. Layug.

Rosa, Canlubang, Mandaluyong, Makati, Tarlac and Pampanga gathered at the Laus Group of Companies headquarters in the City of San Fernando for their annual Don Bosco Student Leaders Assembly themed “Propesyon Ko, Buhay Busko.”
The Laus Group of Companies headed by chairman and chief executive officer Levy P. Laus from Batch ’66, hosted the forum and treated the student leaders to a tour of the conglomerate’s facilities and a glimpse of its affiliates – Mitsubishi Carworld, Premier Cars BMW, Corporate Guarantee and Insurance Company, Huper Optik, CLTV 36 and DWRW 95.1 FM—and their operations Friday afternoon.
Mosche Lacson of the Don Bosco Student Council gladly expressed appreciation for the study tour, which he said was the beginning of their quest to dream big and live the Bosconian way of life: “Today marks the start, the beginning, the alpha, the Day One of the Student Leaders’ Assembly 2012-2013. After countless meetings and preparations of the different Don Bosco Settings spearheaded by the Office for the Development of Education Apostolate, we Bosconians have finally arrived at the day where we say ProBusko: Propesyon ko, Buhay Busko.”
Lacson said that they have chosen the Laus Group of Companies for this year’s SLA because it epitomizes “the fruits of the Bosconian alumni leaders as an example, inspiration and challenge to Bosconian student leaders.”

News About ClarkANGELES CITY — Local government officials called on the public and fellow officials to support the PhilHealth programs, particularly the upcoming “PhilHealth Run 2013: Nationwide Run for Mother and Child Protection” in February 17.
Governor Lilia Pineda said the success of PhilHealth’s programs greatly depends on the support of government officials, public hospitals, doctors and the private sector.
“The health services that Philhealth offers can be maximized with the support of government and the private sector. Let us support Philhealth and its programs for 2013,” Pineda said.
David called on running enthusiasts to join the PhilHealth Run 2013, saying the event shall be an avenue to show corporate social responsibility of the beneficiaries involved in the protection of Mother and Child.
He added that the event will benefit Porac town and other beneficiaries like KaKaK Foundation, Programme Margarita, and Bulacan Medical Center.
He said he will personally participate in the event and invite other participants in Porac town.
“We are very thankful for the support of PhilHealth and we hope to invite participants in the coming event,” David added.
Cabigting, who read Mayor Edgardo Pamituan’s welcome remarks during the event, said the program will enable the success of PhilHealth programs.
She said the run is targeting some 12,000 professional and amateur runners in two sites, Clark Freeport and Malolos City in Bulacan.
“Let us support this worthy cause of Philhealth and become sponsors of bring more health care services to non-government organizations and institutions,” Cabigting said.
Cabigting said that Angeles City is very thankful to the agency for facilitating the distribution of PhilHealth cards for indigents in the city years ago.

Youth leaders undergo training
News About ClarkCITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Some 60 youth leaders from Bacolor, Mexico, Sta. Ana, Arayat and this city recently attended the Magsilbi Tamu Youth (MTY) Leadership Training at the Ninoy Aquino Amphitheatre of Heroes Hall here.
The leadership training of the youth leaders from the third district towns, which ran from December 5 to 6, included workshops and seminars in which the MTY Pampanga youth leaders came up with relevant outputs and plans on various issues facing their respective communities.
Among the speakers were youth leaders Eugene Orejas, executive director of a non-government organization (NGO) and a political analyst, who spoke “patronage politics,” while MTY officers Jay-R Hipolito and Kelvin Vistan conducted an orientation and open forum on leadership and good governance.
MTY Pampanga is a cluster of young Kapampangans who work on promoting and strengthening the role of the youth in good governance, particularly in community service, education, environment, health and social services.
The group plans to cascade the MTY training program in different municipalities in the province to heighten awareness and involvement of the youth in nation building.

2nd Don Bosco ‘Blue Run’ set
News About ClarkTHE second year of the “Blue Run,” which aims to raise funds for various activities of the Don Bosco Alumni Association (DBAA) in Pampanga, is all set on January 26, 2013 at the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) parade grounds, according to an event organizer.
The “Blue Run Year 2: I struggle, I win,” which is a family-oriented fund raising activity, was organized by Don Bosco Pampanga Batch 1988 in cooperation with the DBAA–Pampanga Chapter, according to Event chairman and technical director Melvin Fausto.
Fausto said the activity coincides with the alumni homecoming and is also in preparation for the Don Bosco Pampanga Foundation Day celebrations from January 30 to February 1, 2013.
Fausto said the last year’s “Blue Run’s” proceeds benefitted indigent families living in nearby Mabalacat City.
“This event is an opportune time for all Don Bosco Pampanga students and alumni to get together for a cause-oriented, yet fun-filled activity,” Fausto said.
He said registration starts at 6 a.m. while the start gun will fire-off at 7 a.m. for the 2.5-kilometers (2.5K), 5K, and 10K categories.
Fausto said the registration for the Grand Alumni Homecoming will start at 4 p.m. followed by celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 5 p.m. and homecoming dinner by 6 p.m. (PR)

45 dialyzers donated to Angeles renal care unit
News About ClarkANGELES CITY — The Angeles City Renal Care Unit recently received from Councilor Jericho Aguas the 45 units of dialyzers and safety AV Fistula needle set needed by patients undergoing dialysis.
The dialyzers were solicited by the Filipinos in New Jersey whom the councilor’s wife Isabel Granada-Aguas met during her trip late last year.
“We started year 2013 by visiting the renal care unit and see how we can help the patients who are undergoing dialysis for kidney problem,” Aguas said.
Over 100 regular patients are treated at the renal care unit, according to Aguas.
Dr. Ramon Jose Suarez, Angeles City Renal Care Unit head, thanked the Aguas couple saying “malaki po ang maitutulong nito sa ating renal care unit, dahil maganda po ang klase ng dialyzer na dala po ninyo sa amin.”
Aguas also cited other projects he shares with other members of the Professional Artists Management Incorporated (Pami) bloc — Councilors Maricel Morales, Edu Pamintuan, and Alex Indiongco – particularly on health.
He said they were able to implement programs to prevent the spread of dengue fever. Free vitamins and medicines were also distributed to children suffering from different ailments.
“We were also able to distribute free medicines to adults with diabetes hypertension, and other illnesses,” Aguas said.
Free cataract operation was also conducted in Barangay Malabanias and some 20 beneficiaries benefitted in partnership with private doctors in the city, according to Aguas.
Aguas is also set to distribute negocarts to selected beneficiaries in barangays Sapa Libutad, Mining, Agapito Del Rosario, and Balibago.
Some 40 negocarts were already distributed to selected vendors, he said.
At present, Aguas said his group has a program on youth development on sports like badminton and basketball tournament. (Reynaldo G. Navales)

4 suspects face robbery charges
News About ClarkMABALACAT CITY — Four men are facing robbery charges in connection with the break-in at an outlet of LBC money transfer here last January 1, where some P750,000 cash was stolen.
The suspects, who are still at large, are identified as Requino Bulanit Dacmeg Jr. of Isabela; Arvil Palale Samonte of Baguio City; Bryan Ay-Em Ban-Ang of Isabela; and Ken Cawasan Gupak Jr.
City Police Director Ferdinand Perez said two witnesses identified the four suspects.
Perez said the suspects allegedly managed to enter the establishment by passing through a drainage system and drilling a hole.
They destroyed the vault and carted away the cash and a cellular phone owned by the company, the police said.
Inspector Jesus Dungca, Dau police chief, said a huge amount of money was left by the suspects and later recovered by LBC employees inside the establishment.
But the LBC staff did not allow police officers to count the recovered money, Dungca added.

Sun.Star Pampanga lauded for aid in social service programs
News About ClarkCITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Kapampangan Development Foundation (KDF) has recognized the efforts of Sun.Star Pampanga in helping with the programs of the group for indigents in the province needing social service programs and medical attention.
This came as KDF recognized social partners during its 26th year anniversary at the Heroes Hall here. KDF Trustee Sylvia Ordonez said that Sun.Star Pampanga was instrumental in informing the public on the programs and services of the organization.
“Sun.Star was with us when we revived KDF a few years back and even today it has always been helpful with giving us information on the needs of the province at the same time informing the public of KDF initiatives,” Ordonez said.
Ordonez said that KDF’s Maternal Health program was even inspired by reports published in the paper. She said that Sun.Star will be an important partner of the organization that whose board of trustees is currently chaired by businessman Manny V. Pangilinan.
KDF founded in 1987 by Rizalino Navarro, the late Br. Andrew Gonzalez FSC, Cesar Villanueva, and Jose Araullo and Ricafort.
The group has also established at least 10 rural-based “Well Family Midwife Centers” in partnership with Well-Family Midwife Clinic Partnerships Foundation Inc., Norphil Foundation, Physicians for Peace, and Soroptimist Clubs of Pampanga.
Since the rebirth of KDF three years ago, it has achieved unparalleled social service to Kapampangans.
The KDF has been instrumental in the conduct of reconstructive facial surgery among indigent children with facial deformities, the conduct of free maternal and child service missions and the promotion of local livelihood projects for communities.
Other service partners like Quota, Rotary Clubs, Soroptimist, Arrelano University, Social Action Center of Pampanga where also honored during the event. All the service partners were given certificates of recognition by KDF.

Mayor assures more health coverage
News About Clark, Press ReleasesANGELES CITY — Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan recently assured that more indigent residents here will be covered under the PhilHealth indigent program to help the agency meet its universal health coverage program for 2013.
Pamintuan assured PhilHealth officials here through a message read through Vice Mayor Vicky Vega Cabigting that 20,000 PhilHealth coverage cards are set to be distributed starting this month.
The mayor said the city is set at meeting the outpatient-primary care for indigents in line with the Millennium Development Goals.
Cabigting said that one of the reasons for Pamintuan’s winning of 2012 World Mayor Prize is the good health programs for Angeles City from the Dialysis Center to the reforms initiated at the Ospital Ning Angeles.
Pamintuan joined the ranks of the best mayors around the globe as he was ranked eighth among the top 10 awardees for the 2012 World Mayor Prize.
Pamituan also thanked PhilHealth for helping in the health programs of the city. Pamintuan in an earlier statement said that more than 20,000 indigent residents of Angeles City will soon receive their PhilHealth cards which are good up to December 31, 2013.
“With this, the beneficiaries will be able to avail of discounts when availing of medical services in PhilHealth accredited hospitals and clinics including the Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA) and the various Rural Health Units (RHUs) of the city government. This serves as the new year’s gift of Mayor Ed Pamintuan to all indigent Angeleños,” Pamintuan said.

Faithful to hail Bible in grand celebration
News About ClarkCITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Archdiocesan Commission on the Biblical Apostolate (ACBA) of the Archdiocese of San Fernando, together with thousands of the faithful, will put the Holy Bible in the center stage during the celebration of National Bible Week on January 21 to 27, 2013.
ACBA head Fr. Jesus Layug told Sun.Star Pampanga this year’s celebration—themed “Proclaim the Word, Profess the Faith” – features an array of activities that will put the Holy Book in focus.
“Our celebration will kick-off on January 21 with a Eucharistic celebration to be presided by Auxiliary Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, 8:30 a.m. at the Metropolitan Cathedral. After that, we will have the grand Bible Parade from the Cathedral of the Mother of Good Counsel Seminary in Barangay Del Pilar where the Bible Exhibit will open at the Audio-Visual Room of the seminary. At 2 p.m. on the same day, we would have the Inter-School Bible Quiz at the seminary auditorium,” said Fr. Layug.
He added that the next day, January 22, Rev. Fr. Marlon Lacal, PhD, will talk about “Spirituality and God’s Word” at the Msgr. Ricardo Serrano Auditorium of the University of the Assumption at 2:30 p.m. to be followed by the “HUB” or Handwritten Unity Bible at 3:30 p.m.
The “Bibliodrama Workshop” will take place on January 23 at the ASF Building along Gen. Hizon Avenue from 8 a.m. to 12:00 noon and the day will culminate with a Bible Play at the Mother of Good Counsel Seminary Auditorium at 6:00 p.m.
“We wish to invite the lay faithful, the religious and all Bible lovers to be part of this grand celebration of the Word of God. Please do join us in spreading the Word and professing the faith,” said Fr. Layug.

Rosa, Canlubang, Mandaluyong, Makati, Tarlac and Pampanga gathered at the Laus Group of Companies headquarters in the City of San Fernando for their annual Don Bosco Student Leaders Assembly themed “Propesyon Ko, Buhay Busko.”
The Laus Group of Companies headed by chairman and chief executive officer Levy P. Laus from Batch ’66, hosted the forum and treated the student leaders to a tour of the conglomerate’s facilities and a glimpse of its affiliates – Mitsubishi Carworld, Premier Cars BMW, Corporate Guarantee and Insurance Company, Huper Optik, CLTV 36 and DWRW 95.1 FM—and their operations Friday afternoon.
Mosche Lacson of the Don Bosco Student Council gladly expressed appreciation for the study tour, which he said was the beginning of their quest to dream big and live the Bosconian way of life: “Today marks the start, the beginning, the alpha, the Day One of the Student Leaders’ Assembly 2012-2013. After countless meetings and preparations of the different Don Bosco Settings spearheaded by the Office for the Development of Education Apostolate, we Bosconians have finally arrived at the day where we say ProBusko: Propesyon ko, Buhay Busko.”
Lacson said that they have chosen the Laus Group of Companies for this year’s SLA because it epitomizes “the fruits of the Bosconian alumni leaders as an example, inspiration and challenge to Bosconian student leaders.”
