Pampanga capitol’s skills training benefits 1,628 residents

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Over 1,628 residents in the province have benefited from the skills enhancement and training program being provided by the provincial government.
Francis Maslog, officer-in-charge of Provincial Manpower Training Center (PMTC), said that since 2010, the provincial government conducted in-house and community-based training for free in different municipalities here, in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Training Administration (TESDA).
“For almost three years now, the present administration continuously gives free skills training to our cabalen who would like to improve their craft for higher possibility of employment,” Maslog said.
He said trained skilled workers are competent enough for local and international employment.
Of the total beneficiaries, 266 are already employed, 755 are self-employed, 371 are referred to Public Employment Services Office (PESO) to work abroad and 233 underwent on-the-job training.
Maslog said Gov. Lilia Pineda instructed them not only to give training but also to help find a good job for the beneficiaries.
Among training provided by the PMTC are computer hardware servicing, consumer electronics, computer literacy, shielded metal arc welding, automotive servicing technology, electrical installation and maintenance, plumbing, Korean language proficiency training, furniture upholstery, heavy equipment operation, hair dressing, wellness massage, small engine servicing, and beauty care.
