LUBAO, Pampanga—The local government unit here, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment 3, on Thursday distributed some 33 negocarts to deserving beneficiaries in this town.
In an interview, Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab said the 33 negocarts awarded to selected beneficiaries here were sponsored by DOLE 3 with counterparts from this town’s local government unit.
Cayabyab said beneficiaries will receive one negocart each, which costs P15,000 and cooking utensils given by the LGU.
The 30 negocarts were donated by DoLE 3 and the other three were personally financed by Cayabyab.
The mayor also thanked DOLE-3 for their unending support to the local government unit specifically in helping the unemployed.
Pinapasalamatan po natin ang DOLE 3 sa lahat ng tulong at suportang binibigay nila sa atin. Makakaasa po kayo sa aming suporta at koordinasyon sa lahat ng inyong mga proyekto dito,” Cayabyab added.
DOLE 3 assistant regional director Geraldine Panlilio, meanwhile said the negocarts project aims to help ambulant vendors, unemployed or disadvantaged workers by giving them livelihood that will give them income at par with minimum wage earners.
“Sana nanu man pu ing pagkatiwala mi kekayu maging maragul pu sana saup keng pamilyu ing malating negosyung ayni. Asahan mi pu na magsipag at magpursige kayu pa para mapalagu ing negosyung ini (We hope that whatever was given to you could be of help to your families. We expect you to work hard to make your business grow),” Panlilio added
Last year, 40 negocarts were also distributed to selected recipients here.

Sainthood unclear for three martyrs from Pampanga

Pampanga-The path to sainthood for three men who served in the same missions of St. Lorenzo Ruiz and soon-to-be canonized Blessed Pedro Calungsod has not been cleared even if their martyrdom was well-documented, according to a review of the book “Kapampangan Pioneers in the Philippine Church.”
The book authored by Dr. Luciano Santiago revealed that Juan de Guerra, a seaman from Betis, was beheaded three years after Ruiz was executed in Nagasaki, Japan, in 1637. Nicolas de Figueroa of Bacolor and Phelippe Sonsong of Macabebe, on the other hand, laid their lives defending the Jesuit mission that Fr. Diego Luis de San Vitores led in the Marianas in 1668.
Santiago said De Guerra, 33, at the time of his execution, was one of two Filipinos in a crew of 70 who accompanied four Macau diplomats sent to Japan to improve diplomatic relations.
But upon reaching Japan, they were all jailed for spreading the Christian religion. For refusing to renounce their faith, 61 of them were beheaded, including De Guerra. Thirteen others were sent back to Macau to carry the warning to King Philip.
According to Santiago, the church in Manila celebrated the martyrdom of De Guerra and his unnamed Filipino companion. By 1698 in Madrid, a book documented the execution based on accounts of survivors.
De Figueroa, a boy catechist, also suffered martyrdom but died fighting. A gang of 20 native Chamorros ambushed him and three lay missionaries on April 1, 1672.
When one of the missionaries was killed, De Figueroa cut off the head of the gang’s leader to scare away the rest. He and his two companions fled, with De Figueroa ending up in a village where he was seized and thrown off a cliff. His body was repeatedly speared.
The natives killed San Vitores and his assistant, Calungsod, the next morning, said Santiago, citing Jesuit records. A Jesuit tribunal was convened in 1673 in Guam to look into the possible beatification of De Figueroa and his companion.

AFAB celebrates 3rd anniversary

PAK warns members against bribery rumors

ANGELES CITY—The Partido Abe Kapampangan (PAK) has warned its leaders and members of attempts by its political opponents to sow intrigue to discord and destroy the unity of the party.
In a memorandum to its organizers, officers and members, PAK Secretary General Danilo de Austria Consumido said there are reports that political operators identified with Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin are spreading rumors that the party is giving out money to some of its leaders, causing others to ask why they have not received theirs.
“The party does not engage in political bribery and vote buying. We are fighting for principles, and [PAK] precisely wants to promote a new brand of politics where performance, integrity and concrete program of action are the basis for electing our leaders,” Consumido said.
The memorandum also mentioned of reports being spread out by Lazatin operatives that leaders and members of PAK are defecting to the Lazatin camp where they get paid.
Consumido said that the PAK was organized when Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and Lazatin were still allies, thus, naturally, some of Lazatin’s people were among the original members of the party.
“When Lazatin suddenly declared his candidacy against Mayor Pamintuan, some of Lazatin’s people were caught in the middle of the situation. Some of them eventually rejoined their boss, while many remained with [PAK],” Consumido said.
According to him, there are now 35,000 members of PAK, mostly coming from the poor and middle class sectors.
“Our membership is more than 99 percent intact and growing in numbers by the day, and only a handful went to the other camp where they thought they can get paid,” Consumido said.
“Ang kalakhan ng mga opisyal at miyembro ay hindi mukhang pera. Hindi sila mga hayop na tulad ng kambing na binibilang ng ulo-ulo para bayaran ng kapiranggot,” he said adding that the number of defectors does not affect the party’s unity.

Developer donates lots to Bataan residents

HERMOSA, Bataan–The second batch of recipients and the authorized representative of the Riverforest Development Corporation (RDC) and Litton Family have executed respective memorandum of agreement (MOA) recently, a first step in the donation process of homelots in Litton estate in Barangay Sumalo, this town.
The Litton Family was personally represented by Alex Litton, also the assigned chief settlement officer of the property, in a simple homelots donation ceremony here.
A principal donee is entitled to a 300-square meters homelot.
According to Atty. Anita Chauhan, head of the RDC Community Relations Department (ComRel), the second batch is composed of 108 homelot donees.
There were 29 donees belonging to the first batch who already received homelots from RDC.
As a requirement, the donees earlier attended an orientation seminar facilitated by the RDC to fully understand the lot donation process.
Chauhan explained to beneficiaries that the lot donation process involves three steps.
The first step, she explained, includes a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing. Attached to the MOA is the sketch plan of the actual area being occupied by a donee.
She further explained that the second step includes another signing of MOA. This time attached to the MOA is the sketch of the actual size or the entitled lot area to be given to the donee.
The last part is the signing of the Deed of Donation.
The RDC targets to have 300 homelot donees by December this year.
Twelve subdivision plans were made out of 6 puroks in Sumalo.
Sumalo Kagawad Jun Pangilinan, also a beneficiary, profusely thanked the RDC and the Litton Lamily for their sincerity to donate the lots to them.

Another donee, Mario Dela Fuente, fought his emotion as he thanked Alexander Litton and the entire Litton Family for the donation.
RDC Administration Officer Renato Rapisura, and Commmunity Relations officer Venus Sollestre and Marietta Dumangeng were also present during the ceremony.
RDC manages 213-hectare Litton property in Sumalo with the vision to develop it into a bustling industrial territory.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Children from the 19 towns and two cities of Pampanga made a united call—the responsible delivery of news in aid of proper child development—during the recently concluded Provincial Children’s Congress at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
The convention was attended by day care pupils, parents, instructors, and social workers throughout the province, all in celebration of Children’s Month.
The theme “Bright Child ay Siguraduhin, Responsableng Pamamahayag ay Palaganapin,” guided the participants of the poem writing, singing, calisthenics, and drawing competitions all aimed to promote responsible journalism.
According to Elizabeth Estiller-Baybayan of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, this year’s theme was chosen due to the impact of media to children of this age.
“The media is very powerful today. Even children as young as day care pupils can easily access news and other information from the television and internet, thus they play a huge role in a child’s development,” explained Baybayan.
Board member Trina Dizon, chairperson of the Committee on Family, also called the attention of parents and day care workers, alike.
Dizon stressed their significant role, as homes and schools are the primary sources of learning for children.
“You, as parents, are as responsible as the media in the growth and development of your children. 20 women nabbed in Pampanga bar raid

San Fernando Pampanga– More than 20 female workers were arrested during a raid in a bar in San Fernando, Pampanga Thursday evening.
The apprehended women were brought to the Immigration Academy in Clark, Pampanga to be investigated. Authorities will likewise determine if any of those arrested were minors.
The National Bureau of Investigation conducted the raid at the Sphynks Bar along Barangay Dolores in San Fernando City past 11 p.m. to rescue minors employed there and who are allegedly offering “extra services” to customers.
Three other people who allegedly managed the bar were also arrested. They refused to be interviewed by media.
Personnel from the Department of Labor and Employment were also present during the raid.

Bataan Pampanga-The decomposing body of an Austrian national was discovered inside his home in

Nicolas de Figueroa of Bacolor and Phelippe Sonsong of Macabebe, on the other hand, laid their lives defending the Jesuit mission that Fr. Diego Luis de San Vitores led in the Marianas in 1668.
Santiago said De Guerra, 33, at the time of his execution, was one of two Filipinos in a crew of 70 who accompanied four Macau diplomats sent to Japan to improve diplomatic relations.
But upon reaching Japan, they were all jailed for spreading the Christian religion. For refusing to renounce their faith, 61 of them were beheaded, including De Guerra. Thirteen others were sent back to Macau to carry the warning to King Philip.

2 dead in Pampanga gun attack

CAMP Olivas, Pampanga — Motorcycle-riding gunmen strike anew in Pampanga killing two persons in Bgy. Sto. Niño, City of San Fernando, last Wednesday.
Police Regional Office 3 director Chief Supt. Edgardo T. Ladao identified the victims as Wendel Lagman, 39, Erwin Santos, 37, both of Venus St., San Fernando Subd., Bgy. Santo Nino.
Ladao said the victims sustained multiple bullet wounds in their bodies.
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered six spent shells and two fired bullets for cal. 40 pistol at the scene.
Investigators said the victims were in front of Lagman’s ancestral house at around 6 p.m. when one of the suspects appeared and shot them repeatedly.
Lagman died instantly while Santos managed to get inside the compound but died later.
Lagman’s body was brought to Funeraria Punzalan in the City of San Fernando while Santos was brought to Tumang Funeral Homes in Mexico town.
The parents of the victims opted not to place the body of Lagman and Santos for autopsy for unknown reasons.
Police said Lagman, at the time of his death, was reportedly a member of a high-profile criminal group engage in carnapping and other illegal activities in Central Luzon.
He has several pending cases of rape, murder, attempted murder and illegal possession of explosives before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
