L O C A T I O N

The Camping Grounds of this resort in Clark are located in the Brunello Gardens which is situated at the rear half of the resort. Tents are pitched along the side of the hill lining one end of the garden.

Just up the side of the hill is a special campfire ground designed for camper to enjoy that time-honored tradition of a camp fire. It has indeed been proven time and again that a little singing, (horror) storytelling and dancing perhaps, does wonders in terms of bonding and fostering of teambuilding spirits.

In the center of the campfire ground is a bonfire pit. Logs for bonfire can be ordered in advance. The Campfire ground is an event venue which can be rented for private functions and events.

The exact definition of Glamping is still a little vague. And it probably should be since this is really not an Olympic sport nor do participants win medals and certificates. An article published on the internet by Wanderlust Hospitality, titled “The Top Three Misconceptions about Glamping” could be useful reading for Glamping newbies in the Philippines. Manila campers would do well to gain better insight towards this new fad in outdoor activities before going shopping for expensive gears in various shopping malls in Makati and BGC.

The Glamping article starts by observing that there are a number of “interesting interpretations of the word ‘glamping’ that don’t quite line up with the truth about the sort of outdoors we serve up”. It went on to outline three general misconceptions about Glamping.

1. Glamping is only for my rich uncle

While Glamping equipment is not cheap in the Philippines it is nothing compared to other so-called rich man’s sports such as golf, yacht, riding and even motor sports.

2. Glamping is not camping

“We take this one personally, of course it’s camping.” The article retorted. While it can be argued that Glamping takes the hardship out of camping but it doesn’t prevent campers from enjoying the outdoors as much as in regular camping trips.

3. Glamping takes you away from nature

If being with nature means sleepless nights, bug bites and aching muscles in the morning, then perhaps there is a point there somewhere. However here in the Philippines, nature is wild and awake everywhere campers go. A nice cabin tent filled with comfortable furniture is not enough to take nature out of the equation for glamping in the Philippines.

‘Igme’ slightly weakens

MANILA — Typhoon “Igme” (International name: Tembin) slightly weakened and accelerated as it moved north northwestward on Tuesday, the state weather bureau said.

In its 11 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Igme, the ninth storm to enter the Philippines this year, was spotted 330 kilometers (km) east northeast of Basco, Batanes.
The typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.
The Batanes Group of Islands remains under storm signal number 1. Residents in this area will experience winds of 30-60 kph.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) earlier reported that a boy had drowned after he was swept away by strong water current in La Union at 8 a.m. of Sunday.
Michael Estacio was rushed to a medical center in Agoo, La Union, but was declared dead on arrival.
The NDRRMC earlier reported that flashfloods caused by Igme have affected 353 families or 1,476 people in 10 barangays in five municipalities of La Union.
The affected municipalities include Naguilian, Bacnotan, Burgos, Balaoan and San Juan.
Pagasa said Igme carries about 10 to 15 millimeters per hour of rainfall within its 550 kilometer diameter coverage.
Typhoon “Igme” is expected to be at 370 km north of Basco, Batanes by Wednesday evening and at 510 km north northwest of the town by Thursday evening. It is moving at 13 kph. (Sunnex)

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan led other city officials and village chiefs here in airing support to the congressional bid of Pampanga vice governor Joseller Guiao.
During the birthday celebration of Pulung Maragul chairman Jojo Dimapilis, who is also the Liga ng mga Barangay president, Pamintuan, vice mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, some city councilors, and 28 village chiefs here vowed to support Guiao in next year’s polls.

The barangay chiefs handed their manifesto of support to Guiao during the event.

Some 28 out of the 33 barangay leaders signed the manifesto.
“We strongly believe that Joseller Guiao, with his untarnished record as a public servant, modest character and sound leadership, will greatly complement our efforts and initiatives aimed at upholding and advancing the public welfare,” they said.
They added that “the people of Angeles City deserve only the best and it is with this backdrop that we have banded ourselves together to seek a leader with the passion to serve and the compassion for those who are to be served.”
Village leaders of Cutcut, Sto. Rosario, Cuayan, Pulung Cacutud, Marisol Ninoy Aquino refused to sign the manifesto of support to Guiao, it was learned.
Guiao thanked the village chiefs and city officials who vow to support him. He also vowed to initiate programs on health, livelihood, social upliftment, education, sports development, among others.

Pilot’s wife says she has accepted husband’s fate

CEBU CITY — The family of pilot Captain Jessup Bahinting grieved on learning that the wreckage of the ill-fated aircraft that Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo rode in has been found in the seawaters off Masbate.
But Bahinting’s wife, Margarita, has accepted her husband’s fate.
“It is very painful but we have to accept the fact that he is dead,” she said.
Margarita’s pain is shared by many relatives, friends and fellow church members who visited the family’s residents in Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama urged concerned sectors to ensure that the retrieval operations of Bahinting and Nepalese co-pilot Kshitiz Chand “will be as vigorous” as the search for Robredo.
Rama also urged aviation authorities to conduct regular inspections on commercial and private aircraft.

His call was echoed by Archbishop Emeritus for Cebu Ricardo Cardinal Vidal.
Vidal also said Bahinting is known by many as a good and competent pilot.
Margarita is being consoled by personnel, instructors and students of Aviator, the aerial tour company and flight school founded by Jessup.
Margarita, a member of the Grace Communion International (GCI), said her faith gave her strength and eased the pain of her loss.
GCI is a Christian group where Jessup was a pastor and supervisor for the Visayas.
“It is by God’s grace that we are able to bear it. I am thankful for the support of our relatives, friends and fellow church members,” Margarita said.
She said her son Dan Bryan and daughter Jemar will be coming home from the United States with other relatives.
The Bahintings’ grandchildren Kernellymay, 17, and Ron Dean, 15, are also with Margarita. They arrived from Bukidnon to spend the long weekend with their grandparents in their resort in Ginatilan, Cebu

Kernellymay told Sun.Star Cebu that they flew on an Aviatours aircraft from Bukidnon to Mactan last Saturday morning.
But Jessup moved their trip to Ginatilan, supposedly last Sunday, because he had to fly Robredo to Naga City.
Cebuanos who have had dealings with Robredo expressed regrets over his death.
Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (Rafi) chief operating officer Dominica Chua said Robredo was a model of good governance.
“Rafi learned from Naga City, during the leadership of then Mayor Robredo, how to institutionalize people participation in governance,” she added.
Robredo was a speaker in a forum on good governance organized by Rafi in 2008.
Fr. Carmelo Diola of Dilaab Foundation said Robredo’s death is a loss to the crusade for good governance.
Cebu Coalition of People Power Volunteers for Reform chairman Democrito Barcenas expressed condolences to the Robredo family.
“He was honest and dedicated,” he said.

Special arrangements can be made for groups that would like to barbecue their catch of the day.

The barbecue pits at the entrance to the fishing pond facility is part of the event venue. As such there is no extra charge to its usage. A security deposit of php10,000 is required and liquidated against damages and failure to clean up before leaving the venue. Ordinary firewood can be ordered in advance at php500 for approximately 30kg.

Due to the proximity of this venue to hotel accommodations such as the Outback tents and the Lakeside Lodge, noise restriction must be strictly observed. For special requests to extend a party beyond the normal closing hours, please make arrangements in advance with the concierge of Clearwater Resort. There will be extra charges for extension of time.

After entering Clark Freeport from Dau and Angeles City, proceed straight along the main highway MA Roxas, passing the stand-along wine shop called Clark Wine Center on the right, continue to bear right making no turns at all, go past Mimosa Leisure Estate on the opposite side of the road, one will hit a major intersection.
