MACABEBE, Pampanga \u2013 Mayor Annette Flores- Balgan on Wednesday lauded the provincial government for supporting their plan to up a satellite campus of the Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU).<\/p>\n
Balgan said Gov. Lilia Pineda had supported the municipal government\u2019s plan to establish a DHVTSU campus in Barangay San Francisco here.
\n\u201cIt will help so many people and my advocacy to help more poor but deserving students to get affordable and quality college education,\u201d said Balgan.<\/p>\n
Balgan said the campus in Macabebe will drastically cut the transportation of expenses of students when going to school.<\/p>\n
Macabebe is some 17 kilometers southwest of Bacolor where the main campus of the DHVTSU is. But commuters have to pass by Apalit town before reaching Bacolor, prolonging the distance of travel.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Pineda asked DHVTSU President Enrique Baking to support the creation of a campus in Macabebe, one of the coastal Pampanga towns.
\nBaking assured Pineda that \u201cwe will always support you in your endeavour to spread quality education.\u201d<\/p>\n
Balgan said the proposed area in San Francisco is some five hectares. She added that other offices of the local government are being constructed such as the center for skills\u2019 training.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s an ideal site. One of the less-flooded areas in Macabebe,\u201d said Balgan.
\nEarlier, Pineda announced her plans to spread satellite campuses of state universities and colleges in Pampanga, allowing more students to avail of affordable college education.<\/p>\n
This, as the DHVTSU reportedly offers some P12,000 per semester for a four-year course compared to at least P35,000 per semester offered by the prominent universities in the cities of Angeles and San Fernando in Pampanga.<\/p>\n
Pineda and Baking worked for the establishments of satellite campuses of DHVTSU in Porac and Sto. Tomas towns. \u25cfJoey Pavia<\/p>\n
