CITY OF SAN FERNANDO\u2013Governor Lilia G. Pineda on Friday led the grand opening of UNIQLO, a leading Japanese clothes retailer at SM City Pampanga, as she vowed to support the clothing company in the province.<\/p>\n
The branch at the mall is UNIQLO\u2019s fourth in the country, according to Chief Operating Officer (COO) Katsumi Kubota. He added that the clothing line currently has 1,200 stores in 13 countries.<\/p>\n
Pineda, in a brief message, said, \u201cI assure you that the provincial government will give its full support.\u201d
\nThe governor accompanied by Second District Board Member Frances Olga David-Dizon led the cutting of ribbon of UNIQLO along with Kubota and SM Pampanga Mall Manager Lana Eroba.<\/p>\n
At exactly 9 a.m. Friday, shoppers flocked in front of UNIQLO store to shop for the trendiest clothing that the global store could offer.
\nKubota said the Japan-based top officials of the Uniqlo Co., LTD approved the branching out in Pampanga among all provinces in the country after he explained its vibrant economy and \u201cdifferent\u201d purchasing power of its some 2 million residents.<\/p>\n
Pampanga is considered the economic and business hub of the region with seven provinces.
\nEarlier, Pineda stressed that the growing economy in Pampanga is \u201cmost evident\u201d with the SM\u2019s three malls, one of them regarded as the largest shopping mall in Central Luzon, along with the shopping centers of other prominent firms operating in the province.<\/p>\n
Kubota said UNIQLO, which has some global sales of 928 billion yen (about P372 billion) in 2012, is offering \u201cLife Wear\u201d products.<\/p>\n
