CLARK FREEPORT \u2013 The candidates of this year\u2019s Mutya ning Kapampangan have been tapped to promote Pampanga\u2019s tourism sites, said Board Member Olga Frances \u201cFritzie\u201d David-Dizon, pageant chairperson.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the start of great things when both the private and public work together for the common good and to push for the tourism industry in Pampanga,\u201d said David-Dizon.<\/p>\n
Philippines\u2019 AirAsia CEO Marianne Hontiveros, in a statement, said they will tap the major winners of the Mutya Ning Kapampangan 2012 for the promotion of the tourism destinations and \u201cthe genuine Kapampangan beauty.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cAirAsia wants to work on a long term basis with Governor Lilia Pineda and her people. We want the \u2018Mutyas\u2019 to help us promote Clark and Pampanga,\u201d said Hontiveros during the opening of the AirAsia caf\u00e9 at Clark International Airport (CIA).<\/p>\n
AirAsia thanked David-Dizon when she took 20 of the 22 candidates to the newly-opened AirAsia caf\u00e9 who danced to tune of \u201cGangnam style.\u201d <\/p>\n
Pineda, in a phone interview, said the \u201cold churches in Pampanga are the premiere destinations\u201d that could attract local and international tourists. She cited the 440-years-old St. Augustine Parish in their hometown of Lubao as one of them.<\/p>\n
Senior Board Member Cris Garbo, for his part, said he had filed an ordinance \u201cinstitutionalizing\u201d the five major winners of the annual pageant \u201cas ambassadors of goodwill\u201d who will join the governor and other officials in welcoming visitors and help promote the province\u2019s products and destinations.<\/p>\n
The pre-pageant is on December 7 at 4 p.m. in SM City Clark, Angeles City. The coronation night is on December 10 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in the City of San Fernando. (PR)
