CITY OF BALANGA\u2014A group of Turkish businessmen plans to pour a hundred million dollar investment in the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) after the industrial complex engaged them with facilities and privileges, a top provincial official bared.
\nIrfan Karabulut, president of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (TCCP), disclosed that he was impressed with what he saw during a tour last week of the 1,691-hectare Freeport together with other business magnates from Turkey.
\nHe said he\u2019s into investing in FAB and business plans will be laid out to build the sectors of construction, energy, furniture, business process outsourcing and food processing inside the Freeport located in Mariveles town.
\n\u201cWe want to work with the local people. We want to spend our money here. We will see what products and services you are offering to us,\u201d said Karabulut.
\nThe Turkish magnates exhibited approval with what Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan Chairman Deogracias Custodio said were the \u201csuperior facilities\u201d and advantages of FAB. He outlined its tax privileges, sale of real properties, and the projected lower electricity rate here due to the opening of the GNPower coal plant.
\n\u201cBy 2013, the FAB will have a dedicated power supply providing one of the cheapest electricity costs in the country,\u201d said Custodio.
\nAccording to Bataan 2nd District Representative Albert Garcia, the business plans of TCCP and Kayseri Chamber of Commerce, also a group of Turkish traders, revealed \u201cbig industries\u201d that he hoped the province will get as they range from \u201ca few million dollars to hundreds of million.\u201d
\nHe accentuated the boons of investing in the country which according to the International Monetary Fund is having increased growth forecast despite the \u201cfinancial crisis in other parts of the world.\u201d
\n\u201cWe take pride in telling our visitors that based on the latest report of the National Economic Development Authority, the Philippines is only one of four East and Southeast Asian countries that posted positive growths in the first nine months of 2012, along with Vietnam, China and Hong Kong,\u201d said Garcia.
