CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — An employee of the City Government of San Fernando was recently recognized for preventing a robbery attempt.
\nRonillo Gloria, who is assigned at the City Treasurer\u2019s Office, was cited by Mayor Oscar Rodriguez, local officials, co-employees, and police after he chased three suspected thieves aboard a motorcycle
\nNarvin Mangune, newly appointed City Police Chief, said the victim, Emily Bartolo, 43, of Northville 14 in Barangay Calulut, was walking in front of the San Fernando Elementary School along B. Mendoza Street at 10 p.m. last October 2 when three unidentified suspects aboard a motorcycle appeared from behind and grabbed her shoulder bag.
\nThe suspects then drove off towards the direction of Capitol Boulevard in Barangay Sto. Ni\u00f1o.<\/p>\n
Witnessing the incident, Gloria and an unidentified companion, aboard a Mitsubishi Lancer chase the suspects and upon reaching the vicinity of the Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPPO), bumped the rear portion of the motorcycle causing the suspects to fall and abandon the vehicle, Mangune said.
\nThe suspects fled towards nearby Philippine National Railways (PNR).
\nGloria\u2019s companion sought help from the PPPO through PO2 Joel Ticsay, the stolen handbag with its contents intact, and the getaway vehicle were recovered.
\nThe suspects however, eluded arrest.
\nRodriguez, in recognizing Gloria said: \u201cSuch a deed should be emulated by others because it shows how Fernandinos care for their fellowmen in every situation.\u201d
