\nCEBU CITY — The daughter of Captain Jessup Bahinting thanked everyone who offered sympathy and consolation to her family.
\nJemar Bahinting, 36, arrived Friday from the United States, two days after her father\u2019s body was recovered from the wreckage of the aircraft he was navigating for Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.

\nJessup and wife Margarita have three children. Their youngest, Sarah, 28, is marketing director of Aviatour, the flight school and aerial tour services company that Jessup founded.
\nRelatives, friends and people from government and the business community came to visit Jessup\u2019s wake at St. Peter Funeral Homes on New Imus Road, Cebu City.
\nMany of them described Jessup as kind and helpful.
\nOne of those who visited the pilot\u2019s wake on Friday was Ronaldo Aventurado, the Cebu City Zoo worker who was bitten by a snake.
\nAventurado said he owed his life to Jessup, who dispatched one of Aviatour\u2019s aircraft to transport vials of anti-venom from Camiguin to Cebu.
\nThe zoo worker, however, was unable to see Jessup\u2019s casket as the pilot\u2019s body had to be returned to the St. Peter\u2019s morgue.
\nJessup\u2019s remains and those of his Nepalese co-pilot, Kshitiz Chand, were decomposing when they were recovered from the waters off Masbate.
\n\u201cMiduaw gyud ko para magpakita sa akong pasalamat niya kay siya\u2019y nakaluwas nako. Guol lang kay nipanaw siya unya ako nabuhi (I came here to show my gratitude. It saddens me that while I lived, he died),\u201d said Aventurado.

\nAventurado will go back to Jessup\u2019s wake this morning to accompany Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, who will turn over to the Bahinting family City Hall\u2019s posthumous award for the pilot.
\nChand\u2019s remains, however, were reportedly still inside St. Peter Funeral\u2019s morgue.
\nChand\u2019s body was only recovered last Thursday, five days after the plane crash.
\nCaptain Antonio Jureidini of Aviatour said they suggested to Chand\u2019s family to have the body cremated to speed up its transport to Nepal.
\nBut Jureidini said the Chands wanted to bring Kshitiz\u2019s body to Nepal so they could conduct rituals according to Hinduism practices.

\nMeanwhile, Cebu Archdiocese Jose Palma led a mass for Robredo, Jessup and Chand.
\nPalma said Robredo \u2014 who is known for his \u201csimplicity, transparency and love for family\u201d \u2014 should be a model for everyone.
\nThe Bahintings also attended the mass. Palma said he gave words of consolation to Jessup\u2019s widow.
\n\u201cMy message is remembering. We remember above all our loved ones, which means the person shall not die but will always live in our hearts,\u201d he said.
\nA big tarpaulin hung on a wall inside the room assigned to Jessup to allow people to write their messages for the veteran pilot.
