CITY OF SAN FERNANDO \u2013 The Provincial Police Office (PPO) has tapped junkshop workers in promoting peace and order in the province.
\nPolice Senior Superintendent Edgardo Tinio said this sector could play a vital role in curbing the criminality by giving information through text messages.
\n\u201cI report nyo po sa amin sa pamamagitan ng text message kung mayroong kahina hinalang aktibidad na inyong nasaksiyan sa kalsada,\u201d he added.
\nThe police provincial chief can be reached through mobile number 09178894427.
\nThis number was given to the junkshop workers and owners in a recent consultation spearheaded by the officials of the Provincial Government.
\n\u201cMaging textmate ko lang kayo malaking bagay na para sa akin,\u201d he stated.
\nTinio also reminded junkshop operators not to buy stolen items like communication cables and metal parts of road signs otherwise they will be charged for violating the anti-fencing law.
\nWith this, Jesus Tim Dela Cruz, chairman of Pampanga Junkshop Owners Credit Cooperative vowed full cooperation with the local authorities to put an end with the criminal activities being perpetrated along the streets.
\n\u201cMakakaasa po kayo na gagawin po naming yung gusto po ninyo para makatulong sa problema sa peace and order sa probinsiya,\u201d Dela Cruz said.
