STO. TOMAS — Residents from Pampanga\u2019s fourth district welcomed the Provincial Government\u2019s plan to establish a satellite campus for the Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU) in Barangay Moras del Paz in this town.
\nAccording to them, the satellite campus in the locality would open educational opportunities for the poor but deserving students in the remote barangays in their district.
\n \u201cMagkakaroon na ng pagkakataon ang aming mga anak na makakuha ng kolehiyo kung sakaling matuloy ang proyektong ito ng kapitolyo. Malaking kabawasan sa gastos ng pamasahe, boarding house at sana mababa rin ang tuition fees,\u201d said Carmencita Manalastas, a resident here.
\nBoard Member Nestor Tolentino earlier disclosed that the Provincial Government is serious in its plan to establish a DHVTSU campus in Sto. Tomas.
\nIn fact, he stressed that the Provincial Board approved a P25-million budget to facilitate the rehabilitation of the buildings previously utilized by the Department of Health and National Irrigation Administration.
\nThese buildings will be dedicated for the said DHVTSU satellite campus.
\nThe satellite campus will offer technical vocational programs and Bachelor of Science programs like its main campus in Bacolor town.<\/p>\n
\u201cBidding for the reconstruction and renovation of the old buildings are now ongoing,\u201d Tolentino said.
\nEarlier, Governor Lilia G. Pineda and Dr. Enrique Baking, president of DHVTSU, signed a memorandum of agreement for the implementation and operations of the state university in Sto. Tomas.
